I will let u know if I dont find anything in the next week or so my wife wanted to get some for my b day this week.we went to champion hatchery in shady dale this afternoon and I would not buy there birds, they had dead baby's in every brooder and others that where sick and not going to make it. The owners told me that I need to buy twice as many as I need because half of there chicks will always die . I have never bought from a hatchery before but I did not like them. I got home and disinfected very thing we had on before we even got in the house.

There is a problem if they said "expect half of them to die". But I find it a bigger problem that their solution is to buy MORE from them!

If that doesn't sound like one hell of a cheesy business ploy, then nothing does!

BTW, my local feed store has about 25 assorted bantams that he didn't sell sitting out in a coop on the side of his store. He is really really wanting to sell them. Anyone interested? PM me and I will send you the info. I think they are now about 7 1/2 weeks old.

Thanks, CD.  We've already been plotting and planning.  :D

Good news: the friend of the lady keeping my chickens, took the two swedish ducks. So all five remaining ducks are pekins - three males, two females.

Feel free to turn one or two drakes into dinner.

Carcar-don't give up on those eggs that set out so fast! I took 2 1/2 week incubated mille fleur bearded duccle eggs out of the bator to give to the MFBD pullet when she was pretending to go broody. She ignored them, they stayed out in the nest overnight and cooled. The next morning I snuck them under the true broody that ended up leaving them when her oldest chicks needed food and water. I stuck them back in the bator when they WERE In lockdown under her; they joined the others in lockdown in the bator AND BOTH HATCHED even after all of that!
