YO GEORGIANS! :)

Thanks for the advice. That sounds like quite a moving adventure with all of those critters - glad it went well overall!

Hopefully we can do the full move with DH and chickens sooner rather than later....I am sure gonna miss them once I head east!

Our girls (and our little Serama roo too) are all extremely friendly and used to being held, etc. and I am sure going to miss my daily chicken entertainment...watching all of the antics and 'drama' that breaks out constantly

Dawg,

thanks for the info! It looks like I will be moving to GA in a little over a month, although temporarily chickenless.

DH will be joining me sometime later, with our chickens (can you say cross-country adventure road trip?!).

I know this is a chicken board, but does anyone have recommendations for realtors in the Glynn/Brunswick and/or McIntosh, Camden counties? I'll be in an apartment or some sort of shorter term housing until my DH can join me, but want to start researching houses and property too.....

thanks & happy Tuesday!
There are alot of realtors in the area that will be more than eager to help you look for a permanent place. When the time comes, press the realtor about zoning and restrictions concerning homes and property and chickens, get it in writing on your contract. I forgot to add: I dont recommend moving into Camden county. We are one of the highest, if not the highest taxed county in the state. I dont want to get started about the county commissioners/politics here neither.

anyone close by the Griffin area have a Silver Laced Wyndotte Rooster for sale.. my girls are lonely and if a suitable mate is not found soon, their wandering eyes are on the Big Boys club in my mixed flock. Willing to drive or meet someone within a decent distance.. prefer 9-12 month old but will consider any nice rooster..

Thanks

Shelly

Hopefully, it won't be too long for you! Also, mix up a jug of water with vitamins & electrolytes as a just in case. Keep us posted on how everything goes for you!

New & Dawg,

thanks again for the advice, and I will definitely let you know when we are about to undertake the "grand adventure" of moving our flock out and house hunting!

Now I have an issue with an older chick who has no idea that she is a chicken, and I am most definitely "mommy." I've never had one like this before! She is an amazing story, hatching out of an egg that was abandoned by one of our broodies about 10 days before. I noticed the 3 abandoned eggs I think 2 days after they were left, and brought them in and stuck them in a bowl in my brooder (no ''bator) with a couple of 2-3 week olds. I pretty much ignored them (didn't track temperature, very low humidity as we're in Phoenix) thinking they were a loss and meaning to throw them out. I woke up one morning and saw a little face sticking out of one of the eggs!

She hatched out into my hand before DH could get her safe warm brooder together, and has been on her own track and timeline ever since. She is quite a predator, too, having killed and eaten a fly as a 3 day old chick! She routinely kills and eats beetles that are more than half her size....she is just an impressive little girl. But she doesn't know she is a chicken. We keep trying to introduce her to her older "siblings" and she just doesn't get it. I am "mommy" and she doesn't understand why I'm putting her in with these weird feathered creatures

I'm worried how she will do out with the flock once she's big enough to go outside, and this will probably be after I have to leave for GA, but way before my DH and flock can join me.... Loners just don't tend to do very well

Just so you know what I'm dealing with here.....she is an MFD/Serama "oops" mix, and is very cute

LOL...I don't have SLW's but I have a million other boys to choose from here! I have been hatching way to many boys!

darn.. and you are close enough for a nice road trip too...

on another note.. anyone have some Speckled Sussex hens for sale close by.. POL pullets or young hens preferred.. laying a must...?

I'm at the Southern coastal tip of South Carolina(on the Georgia line) & have some Roo's that need a new home.
I have 1 Wheaten Marans roo (shown left)
& I THINK i have 2 black copper marans roos (still need to sex these, but this is my best guess)
The boys in our batch need a new home since we like to keep our neighbors happy!
They are 4 weeks old this Sunday (hatched on Mother's Day)
Please PM me if you are interested - since it is so hard to keep up with all these posts here!
