You catch more flies with honey? Not exactly......

The best way to catch them is to use WINE! Cheap stuff is okay...fill the bottom of a glass with some and then cover the top with plastic wrap. Make some tiny holes in it. Set it in the windowsill and within a few days, no more fruit flies.

You could do what I accidentally did one time. Had some friends over, drank till we were silly, left the open bottle of wine on the counter, forgot all about it. Went to pour a glass the next night...it was swimming with dead fruit flies. Only fruit flies I saw in the whole house were in that bottle of wine.

Needless to say, I had a beer instead.

LOL, I don't drink coffee! I should have used CRANBERRY juice...didn't even think of it. Anything fruity or sweet would have attracted the little buggers by the hordes, I'm sure.

Believe me, other than the tossing of the intial glass, I have used VERY LITTLE in the traps. Like literally, a splash...just enough to cover the bottom of a very small dish.

i also, er, uh, slathered the rim of one bowl with vaseline......thought maybe they would land and stick........well. No. They don't.

It does however, make it very difficult to pick up the bowl without dropping it and splashing soap and fruit fly laced red wine everywhere.

Oh no they wont! Fruit flies multiply exponentially every 5.4 seconds. They fool you with their slo-mo flying, then kick it into lightspeed when you go to swat them.

This thread is hilarious!

THEY DO. I had 3 all day yesterday and then last night I had 4. FOUR.

I'm used to ladybugs, the pretty yet stupid little things. If I held up a fly swatter they would fly over and land on it to help me out. These darn fruit flies see me coming a mile away. Somebody needs to take their body heat sensors and night vision goggles away. Or, you know, just KILL THEM ALL.

Probably about 1200. My neat freak clean-a-holic mother has been visiting from Cali and will be coming over to my house tonight. Of course, the other day when she came over was the day the bugs apparently removed their IUD because it was instantaneous population explosion. I had just hung up the fly strip out of desperation when she walked in.......and immediately declard it a "hoarder house" because of all the bugs.

LOL.

Thanks Mom

Pour a little Miner in the bottom of a dish and you'll have at least 10 moths, too.
I used to have a moth infestation.
