Yes that may be the case. Hubs says to give him the day to regroup.

I wanted to update this thread for science. Pointy-head was given quite a lot of time to regroup (at the request of my son). He spent 3 weeks in his own little coop (with it's own porch). He did make some slow headway! Eventually he could stand, he could perch on the side of a rubber bowl. He could roll out the door and lay on the ground. He could nibble his kibble and drink. But he did not regain the strength in his neck or walk, and he was starting to not smell very good. So we euthanized him.

He was a nice little guy, and I learned a lot about being pro-active when it comes to rooster battles especially in heat. (ie, avoid!)
