Young rooster is causing some serious injurys on two hens, any ideas on how to prevent this?

It is nice having a rooster around but there are PLENTY of good rooster out there looking for homes. Put the word out to other chicken keepers and I'm sure someone will be happy to give you a nice one. This is the time of year when people are starting to realize just how many of their straight run chicks are turning out to be boys.

There are too many really nice ones to put the hens through bad rooster behavior hoping he'll change or grow out of it.

A rooster who causes a hen to bleed is (literally) opening her up to a potentially terrible death if the rest of the flock decides to eliminate the source of the blood, which attracts predators.

As a "how it should be"... One of my current roosters- the youngest of the 4 with our flock of 100 or so hens adopted the 4 baby pullets that a momma hen just weaned and looks out for his own little band of girls. Point being, excellent roosters exist!
