Your 2024 Garden

Has anyone run their dehydrator outside? I swear I've read NOT to do that, but there is no way I can dehydrate my cherry tomatoes in the house when it's this hot and muggy.
Isin't hotter and more muggy outside? I would think it would take so much longer outside

This reminds me most of grasshopper damage. Not the tiny ones but the huge ones, maybe 3 inches long that are usually brown or green. I see them mostly in the early mornings about now into fall. They will fly off when disturbed.

Could possibly be leaf cutter bees or leaf cutter ants. The cut piece folded over really looks like the cutter bee damage.
The bees you may not see but the ants often form a trail when they are active, each ant carrying a tiny piece of leaf they use for building their house.

Does not look like rabbits to me. They only leave stems in my garden.

No caterpillars or frass?
No sign of insects.

So far the melons are untouched.

My bush beans are getting their second wind, I am impressed. But something is eating the leaves, and it doesn't appear to be insects:

Thoughts?
Look for tiny worms on the bottom of the leaves. That's what I found on mine.

I got one row of pink eye purple hull peas planted along with about 12' of that row being Whippersnapper Peas that I have never grown before. I got the last teaspoon of seed free from the CoOp as that was all the had until next year. I like trying new varieties when I get a chance.

If Possible I'm planting more pole Lima Beans and more field peas within the next couple of days yet. We try really hard to grow what we cannot buy in the supermarkets. Good Lima beans is one of them.

I have been keeping an eye on these melons and winter squash vines. Starting to see a bit of die back. I poked around and have some watermelon, cantaloupe, and pie pumpkins almost ready.

This is my first year growing butternut squash. I see several squash in different stages of ripeness. I know they tan up a bit.

Any advise on when to pick?

Some are still much lighter colored.
