Our carrots are just beginning to come up. I was pleasantly surprised to find Blue Lake Beans coming up too.

Today's project, a flower garden!

I had two Rose of Sharon trees here for 15 years:

After digging up the old edging I loosened up the soil and started laying the new blocks:

Dirt and compost:

It took two loads.

Done for the day!

I will add some peat before planting annuals around the bed and a clematis in the back.

Also, I attached a cattle panel trellis to the porch railing. The shadows make it look warped but it's flat.

I did enough in the garden to probably have a sore back tomorrow. The chickens got 2 buckets of weeds.

No, but they died. I think they just got old.

I'm very close to being able to irrigate all the garden patches. We have to much at stake to depend on rainfall so we are prepared to flip a switch and we will have needed water to keep the vegetable crops growing.

We are putting up new fencing around the garden! Really excited about this!

We may see a patchy frost tonight. Tomatoes and tender annuals will spend the weekend in the greenhouse. I think I may have 100 small pots in there now. The peppers and more annuals are still inside under lights. The weather will improve next week. Getting ready to get real busy here.

I'm starting to see some pea blooms.

Potatoes are up and almost filled in the row.

Cabbage is growing.

Your trellis looks nice! Isn't it wonderful to see some green again!

My pea trellis used to be a back stop for my grandson's baseball practice. When GS got older DH was going to take it down. I decided to build a bed around it. Makes a nice spot for peas or cucumbers.
