The seeds I started on Sunday are already up. Most of them, at least. There's something to be said about heat mats and grow lights

We have "seasonal" temps coming next week. 30s and 40s for highs, and overnight lows in the 20s. If the stuff that has started to bud is not too far along, that should help keep things "asleep."

A friend sent me some of his favorite tomato seeds from last year. So I'll be trying some new things this season. I don't know if all of them are open pollinated... we'll see. I have enough room to grow "experimental" tomatoes.

Sugar Anna peas are breaking through the ground now. No sign of a Sugar Snap. The Sugar Snap peas were quite a few years out of date. I had to try them. I can use the trellis for cucumbers.

I'm getting antsy to get things in the ground, it keeps getting warmer but I'm always afraid to plant until the first week of April or so, I feel like there's always one last frost right when I think it's safe. I'm planning to make a lot of tomato sauce and pickles this year, and trying out growing tomatillos for the first time!

Tuesday morning frost still and now they have lowered the forecast for Wednesday morning that's not but 2-3 degrees from another frost if conditions are right.

Not just frost now for Tuesday morning but a freeze in lower pockets when it is 33° on high ground.

Went to the nursery this morning. They had tomatoes, but Early Girls and Better Boys...not what I wanted.

I came home with annuals: Lantana, Citronella, and an annual new to me:

The only carrots sprouting are the Nantes Half Long, the other seeds must have been too old. I'll try to replant tomorrow.

And the peas have "found" the strings!

While not technically a garden, the northwest corner of the backyard was overgrown with privet, vines, and other stuff. I brought my cordless hedge clippers and reciprocating saw into the fray...

Lantana is a perennial here in AL and I know in FL.... You can have bees coming to it year round.
