I'm going back out to the tomato and pea planting after I cool down some. I got really hot and knew it was time to take a break or I'd be in trouble. When You start seeing yellow light and stars in it it's not good.

Right now our heat index is 106° and I can't take it anymore today. They are staged and ready if we get some cool air from the clouds coming our way around about 5pm.

What should have been a drizzle is a hard pouring down rain with heavy thunder too. Good napping weather.

We're in for several days of hot-for-us weather, with high humidity. I put a wet towel around my neck, and that helps me to feel cooler. I managed to pull 6 buckets of weeds today. The breeze was much appreciated too. Soaked with sweat, stand up, feel the breeze!

I found enough green and yellow summer squash today for a nice stir fry with thick sliced bacon and onions. That will be a treat for my SIL who is coming tomorrow for a few days.

Yesterday I did some weeding and picked some tomatoes, squash and cucumbers. I got enough green beans for a meal. Peas and butterbeans are loading up again.

Some how the mildew and squash bugs must have missed us. The yellow squash and zucchini have branched out and spreading. The hens are saying "No more zucchini, we want cucumbers and tomatoes please!"

I turned the compost. "Magic Dirt". Need to move it to the fall planting area. This morning my sciatica is trying to get me. Going to be moving slowly today.

We got heavy rain last night. At least 1.5, maybe over 2" of it. My rain gauge is whatever is sitting around that will hold water.

I'm glad for the rain, don't mind that it's so much all at once. The only problem will be for some of the potatoes, if they're still growing. I find that a lot of water will make the Elbas grow so fast that the center cracks and will start to rot a bit.

It's only a problem if I want a big baking potato. If I'm cutting them up to fry/roast/boil, I just have to cut the bad spot out. The soil they're in is sand, so it drains very well. I don't have to worry about them rotting, even with that amount of rain in 6 hours.

I did nothing in the garden today. But I got a fair amount of stuff done in the house.

I have a friend I haven't seen in 25 years visiting next month. She said not to bother to weed the garden or clean the house, but DANG! they both need it, so I'm using her visit as my butt kicking excuse.
