My chicks come from our local feed store, the order through Ideal. I got 5 of the eight I ordered so far. Two buffs, one white( I ordered 2 but one died in transit) and two gold laced. The two silver laced I ordered were not shipped but after calling them they will be delivered the end of this week.
After not havimg. Partridge silkies for a few years to concentrate on my blacks I decided to start over in this color and was so happy to get some hatching eggs from a couple of friends. They really are my fsvorite color. These are a few of my youngsters. I am so in love with them.
Im enjoying seeing everyones coops from the inside!!! This is the inside of my coop.
The silkies have a "community " nest box. Portable roosts that are 4" high. i only have 2 that roost, the others sleep on the floor.
After getting sidetracked for a while i am so happy to be starting over with Partridge Silkies. They have always been my favorite color. I just hatched a few from eggs from friends and have more in my incubators I ended up with three normal partridge and one wheaten based partridge.there are...
I am new to this breed. I had the opportunity to buy a small local flock from someone that is cutting back breeds to concentrate on others. I will be picking up a rooster and two more hens ( i have picked up two of them already) so will start with 4 hens. I have only had the two girls for a...
Yesterday I moved my partridge out to the outdoor runs. Now to learn how to use the ramp up to the coop lol!
This girl just wanted to sit on my foot....
There is a range of acceptable color but they should be in a range of reddish bay coloring. When thinking of that color I think of variation of the bay color in horses which range from a pretty bright red to a dark reddish brown. The head is often darker ( a sort of slate grey) but should...
I had one hatch that was a similar color and was also told it was most likely Wheaten based.
This is her now at 12 weeks old . I think she is cute though not exactly correctly colored. Interesting how different they can turn out!
Im not sure.. I dont think it was really short.. I had her for a few years an when i moved I sold her to some one I kept some contact whith and dont remember them losing her early on.
I have added a few new Partridge to my young flock. The ones i hatched from shipped eggs will be 3 months old on Thursday
My little guy bought here locally
My new Partridge are silkies and showgirls
I have had some like this as well and mine seem to either turn bluish with leakage. I have one
that had partridge markings but had no gold/brown in its plumage as it feathered out and it has turned out to be a silver partridge color
Yes, that whole thing is confusing to me. In the past I had thought that the Silver Partridge color that is refered to was patterned like the normal partridge and the Grey was totally different being more evenly colored and without the penciling in the wing feathers. It is too random for me...
I always like black and tan coloring.. LOL! I actually think the grey/silver colorings are beautiful, Im just not into projects right not so tend to stick to the standard colors. My favorites are partridge and black. Im just not as fond of the diluted colors even though my two favorite hens...
I have this girl, I think she is very pretty but prefer the normal partridge color. She is going to stay in my flock as a pet since I dont want to do another project. She came from a black Rooster with a silver gene and a blue Hen. This pair produces this color fairly regularly.
