I double coop all my Lg Fowl Cockerels and Cock birds not just my RIR's. I want them to have as much room as possible in their pen to move around and not screw up their feathers while waiting on the Judge to get to them. Besides if they don't care for the bird next to them it puts some space...
This one is made of wood and painted white. I need to repaint the inside light blue but I'll do that another day. We made this for the show in Baton Rouge and I did make it big but I wanted to be able to put geese in there. It's 3 x 3 x 3 and has 3 florescent lights on the inside. I also made a...
Here are all the club members that put on the Baton Rouge Show. We had a ton of help from the new Mississippi Club but these are the people that are the meat and potatoes of the Gulf Coast Poultry Faincier's Club....
Yes Jeff we had a little mix up there at the end. I think one of the Judges told us one thing and had something different written down on his paperwork. Aside from that and the fact that we were all dead tired from no sleep and poor Rhonda was way over whelmed being pulled in every direction we...
No kidding! I wish I got paid 2.00 per stall per day. That would be at least ( we always have at least 3 horses here) an extra 42.00 per week raise! I could use that to pay for 1/4 of my chicken feed per week!!!!
Chris
Nice!!!! I really need to start building a few more of these myself!
I love this pic...
It doesn't get to cold down here by me so I just rap 3 sides with plastic just to keep the wind and rain off the birds from Dec to Feb. Summer is really brutal down here that's why I like all me coops...
We had both a good Red class and a good NH class at the show.
We have a couple of things in the works with a few different breed clubs for our show next year. If it all gets worked out, we could easily double the Bantams and triple the Large Fowl entries for next year. We were talking this...
Lol, no offence taken at all! Yep I look at and feed anywhere from 75 to over 200 chickens each and every day. Most all of my males,40+ Are in their own pen so it can be very time consuming. I look at them and decide if I'm going to feed them or if they are going to feed me.
Just saying that...
Your right, breeding to the SOP and showing is not for everyone and I'm not trying to change your mind but I remember you also saying that using an incubator was not for you as well....then you bought a good one and it never got turned off for weeks.
Yes in the end they are all still chickens...
Rhonda finally shut the registration down for our show Saturday. Here are the numbers...
Total birds entered 743
There is just over 200 Lg Fowl (I think 207)
Right at 499 Bantams
About 36 Water Fowl
And 2 Turkey
It's free to walk in and look around! There will be people selling things, birds...
Don't cross breed your Horseman birds with the birds your getting from Ron. Grow out your Horseman birds and breed your best male/ males to your best girl/ girls. Then do the same with the Reds from Ron. Just don't cross them up with each other.
Chris

He is about 8 months old and still needs to fill out a...
Here is a pic of the box I had my father build for me to take pics at the show. I put the lights in it this morning and tested out with my phone!!!! I think it will work! Lol
