Hi Flower,
I have poop trays under my roosts. They are 2' wide x 2" deep. The roosts are 18" above the tray, exactly across the center of the tray. I absolutely think this was one of the best, if not the best idea I have picked up while browsing BYC. I have 8 hens and 1 rooster and it takes...
Hi, Your girls are so very pretty! Mine have not entered their first molt, yet. They are 1 year this month, and still pretty dark. And, congratulations for Odette winning in the contest!
Ohhh, so cute. I haven't decided whether I am going to incubate this season. I have 2 ill horses, 1 with Lyme Disease and doing better and the other with EPM, a parasitic nervous system infection. Not doing so well. When it rains it pours!
Thank you both for the info. I think I might try the True Blue Whiting when I can just buy 2-3 to start. Right now I have two different Spanish Breeds and a few EE's. Good luck with your birds, and I will check in occasionally to see how everyone is progressing.
I am interested in this breed and wondering if any of you have had them long enough to be able to judge their personalities. I am not knocking Leghorns at all, but have read and been told by owners that they can be very mean, to the point of cannibalistic.
Ha Ha, I thought I wouldn't mind driving hours to get chickens, too. But...........it was the drive home that got to me. The forecast was for rain, so I drove my enclosed SUV instead of my pickup truck. Had the crate full of shavings, pdz, etc. My DH was with me, but he's not a chicken...
Hi Flowerbh,
I am so glad that you understand the genetics. I think I understand when I am reading the formulas, but don't think I really comprehend, because as soon as I walk away, I have forgotten the formulas. I am into my family genealogy, and have submitted DNA from different members of...
Aww....Ron, I am so sorry to hear that. You had really been involved and studying the breed. You helped me a good deal in my pursuit of the Pita Pintas. Keep on keeping on with the advice, and suggestions, please!
Well.............we don't totally have a handle on these "Easter, Olive Eggers", do we? I guess that's the fun of the anticipation of; what color eggs will I get?
These olive eggers, easter eggers can really surprise. I was afraid that I would get brown eggs from this girl. She has yellow legs instead of the gray/slate. I have 1 blue egg easter egger, but she hasn't given me an egg for at least 2 mos.
