Oh, it's on there! It just doesn't show up very well in that second photo. Otherwise those two would be long gone on the hunt for some ladies.
And that was built this week ...that's an amazing set-up.!
It took most of two weeks of non-stop work to build it. We ran into a snag here...

nice , that looks great ..... you will totally enjoy that coop as well as the birds
They are enjoying not having to share with the chickens and now, since they are away from the driveway, they will stop screaming at the trash truck and the UPS man and every other unsuspecting motorist...
So Bil was able to come home on his two-week R&R from overseas. We built the peacock run that he had been talking about for months. I tried to talk him into just taking it easy and relaxing and even offered to rehome our two peas, but he would have no part of that.
Now they have their own...
Hey, does anyone have, or know of anyone that has, any peahens for sale? Preferably up here in the northeast part of the state, but I know the chances of that are slim.
I've discovered that if I hatch my own eggs, I get about 50-50 hens and roos. But if I buy chicks from someone else I get waaaaaaaaaaaaay more roos.
ETA: I think I managed to pick two hens and two roos out of the mixed bantam bin at Atwoods. If I'd let the guy catching them choose, I'm sure...

I don't mind them as long as I'm not trapped in an enclosed space with them looming over me. We have garden spiders and some other kind that spins their webs between the trees during the summer time. I have to be careful going down the path to the big coop once it starts getting dark...

Purina is top-notch stuff for game birds, $15 is pretty cheap. I've not seen the Shawnee.
I think I could grow just about any insect except roaches. We have some kind of wild tree roach that lives in the woods out here and freaks me out whenever I find one in the coops. That and...

Did you know there is a feed store by Shulter/Coalton? I don't know if they are open on Sundays though.
I haven't been down there to look for feed yet. I think I saw a feed store once in Mounds, which isn't far from where I live. The real trouble is finding one that carries game bird...
Normally I try to avoid leaving the house during the weekend, but the silly chickens ate up all their food. I drove down to Okmulgee only to find that just about everything was closed on Sundays. Orschlens was open, though and I was able to pick up some brooder lamps, bulbs, and peat moss (for...
I like hearing the little roos crow too. Most of this batch will probably be making to trip to POOPS with me. I got some of every main color, including a little Tuxedo (who I will be keeping for myself ).

On Monday I looked out the dining room window to see my quail freaking out in their pens. I had slept late to recover from having a night drill last weekend and it was hard to focus on exactly what was going on. Then I saw a huge hawk fly away from the top of the pen. I went outside and...

They've been wormed, checked for mites, had their protein upped and they have access to a small bowl of cat food and a pan of oyster shell. Nobody seems to be feeling under the weather. I thought I had an egg eater for a while, but I haven't found a trace of that since I scrubbed down...

Mine have gone stingy on me too. All during the nastiest cold part of the snow storm, I was getting seven eggs out of 10 layers. Now I am getting four. And now is the time that I am really wanting the eggs, too.
I ended up having to go to TSC and Atwoods today to stock up on food. TSC doesn't carry gamebird starter and Atwoods doesn't carry unmedicated chick starter. I was able to resist all their bins of chicks. Then Atwoods sold me an imaginary bale of vermiculite. The loading guy found the peat moss...

LOL. I will definitely be sharing the love if I see one of those crawling out of the egg.
It's a big "if", but I hoping the USPS left something alive for me. And then someone else can love it and hug it and pet it and name it George.

If they are blue they will be even more popular. NN is the breed of the season and blue is the color.

NN's are the so purdy
*Sniff* Then if they hatch, I'll just keep them to myself and I won't share with anyone! *Sniffle, Sob*
