I don't have quail but came upon this article and read it. I love the advice about prevention.

That was neat about using the leg bands and a rubber band too. We've only used Vet Wrap to bind chicks when needed, but next time we will have to try that.

Great brooder and thank you for putting in all of the measurements and materials needed so someone could build this. I love the secure PVC pipe to hang the heat lamp from.

I'm old so I'd want this put up about 3' either by building legs or building or finding a coffee table of sorts to sit it on.

I see it wasn't quite finished though.

Good article. There are a couple of things I do not agree with, such as not free-feeding them and what's thought of people who have wild chickens, but the rest is very helpful information.

What a beautiful coop!

This lacks build details, measurements, etc. to help someone else build one like it.

Love the coop and the artwork.

Build details, measurements, materials list, blueprint, etc., any or all would help someone else build this.

Also, chicken wire keeps chickens in, but doesn't keep wild animals or ferocious dogs out. 1/2" hardware cloth would though.

Can only see the coop from the front, but looks nice.

It would be helpful to someone else to build this were there build details, some measurements, pictures of all sides and the inside, and material list.

Love the story! Great pictures thus far.

There are no pictures of the interior, nor any explanation of how it was built. Build details, material list, measurements, etc. would help someone else build this.

I like the innovation, but there's nothing explaining how it was built. It needs a picture or two of the inside too. Nice use of the windows!

This makes for a beautiful understanding of our chickens in comparison to our own lives. A lot to ponder.
Good incubator idea with using various parts from a junked out computer, glitter ball, and other repurposed things.

I would need a bit more explanation and illustration though. I'm not getting how the turner worked as that plastic egg holder looks like they'd stay stationary there. Did it just raise and lower one end?

Do you have a hatcher incubator or what do you do for lockdown?

A good resource for advanced bumblefoot.

It's mentioned if you find minor bumblefoot to basically wait until it gets worse. Please don't. There are ways to treat it early on using drawing salves like PRID and other methods you can find within BYC.

If your bird's case is well beyond early stages, then this article may be for you.

Good ideas if you think your hen is egg-bound.

Calcium given is best if it is around 300 mg calcium citrate + D3, and can be given to the hens whole. Calcium citrate is the type of calcium that works the fastest. Open her beak and pop it in. They eat much larger things than this.

As one member commented asking what does it do? This causes contractions so will help the hen expel the egg or parts thereof.

This looks like a great idea! There's a material list here and pretty good explanation and photos to go with it should anyone want to try it. I like it but we use nipple buckets here.
