Helpful for those wanting to get into processing their own poultry.

No author contribution, but for the nice table of links. Still is handy though!

There's not much for explanation of how to build this, but it's innovative and has a materials list, so a crafty person could maybe figure this out.
Great article!

I've seen a few of your threads you started when testing some of the variations you tried and thought how helpful it is to learn what actually occurs under different variables.

You did such a nice job with the table and summation. Very helpful for a new person incubating or an old one like me. I was amused that we had nearly identical findings on refrigerated eggs.

Very informative! Well done!

Stunning photographs you got showing us these mites and also the "nest" they make on our chickens!

This was very informative!

It is about how you discovered and treated, so one way, and this could be expanded. There are many other ways to discover if your chickens or coop has red fowl mites, and also, the vast majority successfully treat their birds and coop with permethrin powder, or perhaps the spray where it's a warmer climate. If you just added a link, even from articles here in BYC about testing the coop for the mites and treating them with a powder, your article would be more complete and have more avenues for someone reading your article instead of just one.

Good job though!

It's a beautiful coop! Nice job!

What this needs is, under each picture or every couple of pictures, an explanation of what you did so someone like me could build it.

Very cool idea with joining the two cupboards!

A step-by-step explanation of how you built this would help.

Very unique and pretty cool looking too, but outside of the pictures, there's no explanation of how you built this coop.

There is only one picture of it. No pictures of the inside or other sides, and no explanation of how this was built. No blueprint or materials list which are helpful. This article is basically a picture of a nice-looking little coop, and that's it.

This looks great!

But, this needs a few more pictures, a materials list or blueprint, and a bit more explanation of how you built it.

Very nice job and cute coop!

For someone else to build this, there could be a little bit more explanation and a few more pictures, but all in all I like it!

Cute coop! The pictures are so small though. Not sure why as they should be bigger. They don't let you click on them to make them bigger either.

This also needs some step-by-step explanation to go with the pictures.
Beautiful coop and run!

Lot's of great pictures and your explanation as it went along was very nicely done. A neat story too about why you did all this.

This is a beautiful coop and run!

What I'd like to have seen, though is a blueprint or some measurements, or a materials list showing the sizes of everything you used. That would make it easier for someone to build it.

Also, you could have a heading: "What would I do differently?" as you obviously learned some lessons, but we don't know what you did differently.

You have awesome pictures and made your article flow, so it's understandable each step of the way what you were doing, but pretend you're explaining it to someone who is trying to build it.

Nice job, though. It's a beauty!

Very nicely organized and informative.

Maybe you'd like to also include that if incubating these icky eggs, generally we don't wash them either. The reason is no bloom, then bacteria can enter the egg and perhaps kill the embryo.

You could also have a link or two to where further information about the subject is in case someone would like to read more about this.

Nice job!

It's a pretty opinionated article, but some info is good; other info can be taken with a grain of salt.

I think "the birds fly" was supposed to be "the bird flu." There are other grammatical errors, but that one stands out. Check the formatting of your numbered sections and either have a space after each, or no space, but you have both.

I'm giving you 3 stars for ingenuity and explanation; however, using kitchen appliances outdoors is a recipe for trouble as the cords and electronics weren't built for outdoor climates. Could you rewire the heating unit with a higher gauge heavy-duty electrical cord?

I believe that temperature switch you speak of is called a Thermo Cube.

The appliance was designed to be used in a kitchen/household setting, of course. However, the relatively short AC cord is 14 gauge, heavily insulated whereas the orange 50' 'outdoors' extension cord is only 16 Gauge. Better setup would simply include a bit of cover/protection (box?) to protect the dial/thermostat. The extension cord and 'thermocube' are plugged into a GFCI outlet and the circuit is protected with a 15AMP breaker. While everyone is cautioned to hire a certified electrician and have the county inspect home electrical 'improvements,' some folks just plunge ahead and do what comes naturally. (In my case for many decades.) BTW - the cable on these griddles is only a 2-wire affair and it is UL Approved! Go figure.

Found someone asking about it with their chicken they are tube feeding due to canker. I'll be sharing this very informative article with her. Thank you!

I believe most don't have vets, but there are links to dosages that would be helpful if someone needs. I've seen links in BYC and at Poultry DMV.

Love this! It needs updating though. I think it could be made into a useful tool either in the learning center under a different title or on the homepage

Very nice! I'd have liked to see a little bit more explanations under each of the pictures to explain what you're doing although most are obvious.
