Even though I think the workmanship is amazing , there is no real application here for the average person . Most People here struggle with fastening wire over wooden frames to make a chicken run

This article needs to be in a magazine somewhere, you should contact readers digest , I would read it!!

Good luck and keep inventing

Great article , it’s a good read . I laughed ( didn’t cry), and learned a lot . We all have such different set ups and birds , there are no blanket statements in animal raising .... I like your summary at the end , kind of like the readers digest version of the article.

Good job

Some interesting points, but this article is one persons opinion, no research , some quotes
(which I hope permission was granted for )
They have a dozen roosters? Well they aren’t usually a problem on their own ... it’s with hens that the defensiveness starts...

I love my roosters too, but
there are many differing opinions on roosters , this is just one and I don’t buy it .

I love my sandy coop, run and nesting boxes . The key is to clean daily and add ash or de regularly. As they do in daycares it can be sprayed with bleach and raked .

We have some hard lumps by the water , we just put them in the run for the hens to break up . It gets no hotter then dirt and drains like a dream . (Think of a beach )

I tried straw , yuk a slippery mess of wet poop, deep litter I don’t enjoy walking on a big pile of compost and leaving the poop on the floor , and shavings are dusty and it’s hard to scoop poop up .

I’m not a beach girl !! But I love my beachy coop , run and the nesting boxes are great!!

No more straw on the floor , broken eggs or even dirty eggs.

A bully pen is not often mentioned in coop/ run construction, but it should be. Closing off the end of your run is invaluable. Great article , a little long for me , but I get the point

Only thing I disagree with is Wyandottes, I’ve had two and they are the most miserable hens I’ve known ....

The rest is great information , thanks you for this I hope it helps others

Something to think about ,but where are the pictures? Stories of people who actually tried it? Sometimes ideas on paper aren’t possible in the real world , I have many acres and I wouldn’t build this

This coop is well though out and beautiful in an understated way. A classic look that anyone would be lucky to have in their yard.

I’d switch out the chicken wire for hardware cloth, as chicken wire can be torn by dogs or coons.

Give us measurements and plans and it’s a 5 star coop !!!

This coop is well thought out, very accommodating to the needs of bantam breeds.

I wish you had some dimensions and or material lists so other owners can make this coop

Nice pictures and colours. I like how you reuse and repurpose instead of buying ... good for you

I’d like measurements and plans to help others copy this tiny backyard coop
