sorry but this article isn't complete! I see something that looks like a home-made egg-turner and there is not a single word about it in the description. Also the pictures are too small to see any details. Beautiful chick though.

This is the kind of incubator i want! A cabinet incubator with lot's of space and enough room for the hatchlings to dry out at the bottom. This would deserve five stars as it is well written, but the description of the built needs more details and the pictures are too small…

I have learnt a lot of new English words by reading this article! Who would have thought that chickens have so many different kinds of feathers, and that a feather is such a complex structure.
Thank you very much for this very educational article.

What a wonderful plea for the animals! - You can replace the word "Chicken" with "Duck", "Goat", "Horse", "Cat", "Dog" or any other animal that became a part of your family! Just because a bird can't lay an egg a day anymore, the cat became too slow to catch the mice and the ol' dog rather sleeps at night than standing guard doesn't mean those animals have lost any purpose.
Thank you very much for writing up such a well balanced article about such a delicate topic!
I was lucky so far that i never had to cull a duckling, but it is not a question of "if" but of "when" i need to do that and surely your article will help a lot then.

Overall well written and a good summary of tips and tricks. Some good pictures would help to make things clearer, like where do you hang the herbs so that the chicken won't eat them...

Who would have thought somebody can build an incubator out of a plastic sink! Great idea.
A bit hard to follow, but the incubator works like almost all diy devices do: Incandescent lights as a heat source, thermostat module and dimmer switch.

Great little coop, love the idea of the »sun porch«, so your birds can stay locked up during lousy weather. Love the recycling idea for the floor register, try to get through that racoon!
A little more details about how everything was pout together would be very valuable.

Nice idea to build a temporary chicken coop out of a - what is that thing? A freight-box for cabbage?
And what are those green things? - Screen doors?
Very interesting built, you need to tell us more about the materials you used and where you got them. The result looks great! I love that sliding door, ingenious!!! I may steal this for my duck-house, a horizontally sliding door is much safer for automation than a vertical door.
