The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I know, I know! It's my fault for not getting it out of the console this morning!

They're all so pretty though.

I figured the little blurb about their names might hold y'all over until I can get some pictures... heh...

Joy, that first little roo that you like is Imprimis, and he is in the lead for the keeper at this point. He is slightly bigger and wider than the other two, I like his eye and expression, his comb is not too bad - He is Minerva's, BTW. Those two black girls are going under lock and key - I love them! They are Minerva's also. I am like Kathy, getting a better appreciation for the blacks every day.

Oh, Jeremy. . . . .

Gotta see those babies, they are hatch mates with some of mine!

Kathy, they have grown, it seems like they double in size every day. They have the best time outside, running and jumping and flapping and testing their wings and legs. Joy, you would laugh - Skoche crouches down in the grass and wiggles her butt and then jumps in the air like a cat.

OK. My DH is enabling my addiction.

My babies needed a nice, new home. This is their new 12' x 24' coop. Let's hope it's done before they outgrow their new brooder that we built them a few weeks ago.

Cheryl I wonder if the smaller chick on the left has some sort of genetic irregularity.

ALL of the cockerels that I have from Joy are huge, huge, HUGE and they're just about as feathered as the pullets. The only place they still have pin feathers is on their bums!

Isn't your chick about a week older than mine too?

Maybe there's a dwarfing gene at play with that chick? It just doesn't make sense why it would still be so small and underdeveloped feather wise.

Cheryl why are you giving that pretty pullet away? Did I miss a post somewhere?

Daphne looks like your into some serious chicken business there. I bet that coop will be nice. I need to revamp mine and do a few new ones but I want to remodel my bathroom too.

I hope it's nice. I am neglecting MAJOR updates that are needed in my house. A coop just seems so much more do-able. Especially when the whole family pitches in. That's my daughter breaking ground.

I have questions...... I am wanting to improve my American style Buff Orps by breeding them to one of Charlie's sons I got from Julie. Would I be creating Mutts?? Would the chicks still be considered pure Orp? My goal is to produce English type Buff Orps. Now... would a blue roo be the best color to try this out??

Joy you asked me the other day what my plans were... well this is one of them. I hope it was ok to ask these questions here.
