Yes, I have texting, so feel free! I have two kids on my plan, so I have unlimited texts...
I'm not 'new' to chickens, maybe 'semi-new'?...we started our flock about a year ago as a boy scout project. We're in Raeford.
Here's the rundown on our flock:
Sex Link Rooster (at least I think he's...
Losing babies is so hard...last year I brought home two 'freebies' from TSC as well. They had been trampled by their siblings I was told. But the symptoms were pretty much identical. Neither baby made it, though I've so far not had any other problems with babies other than the occasional...
Last year we started a flock with Sex-Links, Tetras, Brahmas and Bantams. We lost a few, but have had very good luck all around. A few weeks ago we picked up some new red babies (breed unknown at the moment, waiting for them to get bigger)...but we got a big surprise today.

I went to TSC today...probably my first mistake. I picked up six more babies and the lady asked if I would take two injured chicks that had been stampeded by their sisters. I agreed, much against my better judgement.
Anyway, one chick seems to be ok...the other however, refuses to drink or...
NeeleysAVLChicks - How many do you have? I'd like to get a few more babies....and a drive to the mountains is never a bad thing.
BellyDancer - I'm in Raeford too!
My week old chicks are starting to show tailfeathers...and trying to escape! hehe They are SO curious.
Yeah, my husband builds alot of stuff, so I'm familiar with '16" on center" and terms like that. We have roofing from our shed that is 10 - 12 feet long I think. Our shed has rows of the see-through plastic roofing in order to let light into it and Joe was contemplating using that for part of...
