Pros: Easy to read, excellent breed index, lots of basic information
Cons: Gives basic info, but not too much detail, missing some major points
This is a great book to start with if you're interested in chickens. It gives you the broad idea and information on raising chickens as well as a great breed index (a lot of British breeds though). If you read this book and think you want chickens, take the topics given to you, and research them further, as well as other topics the book is missing (such as predators). It provides easy-to-read, and informative general information, but do not let this be the only book you read. As a whole, it is worth buying.
Pros: Cool looking, small, fun personalities
They look awesome! Someone at my county fair had a pair and they were so nice! I would kill for one!
Pros: Hardy, calm, good guard dogs
Cons: None yet
I have one Buff pullet and she is so fun! I love her massive body structure and soft, fluffy coat. She acts as the mother of the flock, even when they were all three days old! She is often seen supervising everyone. She never does what they do, just guides them and keeps an eye on them. She is very calm, and makes neat sounds. I can't wait until she lays!

Pros: Cool to look at, calm, sweet
Cons: My one screams when lonely, but is too stupid to go play with the others!
I just picked up 2, week old chicks today. A Golden Laced, and a White. They are so calm and are having no problems with the bigger birds. My GL fell asleep on my hand! My white is a little character who wants all the other chicks to come to her! She would never go to them! She will screech until someone plays with her. The nerve of her! I love the looks of these guys and was so excited to get them. Especially in these two colors! They will be gorgeous!

Pros: Fluffy, sweet, calm, is not afraid of older pullets
Cons: None yet.
I just got a 2 week old black today and I love him/her! She is very sweet and as soon as I put her in with my original birds, she ran right to them and was not afraid of them. She is so bold! They are twice the size of her too. Very calm and quiet. Again, I love her!

Pros: TONS of colors, easy to find, cool eggs, myriad of personalities, bantams do not eat much
Cons: On the flighty side, not a recognized breed, mine have very loud, high pitched squeaks
I have a few of these chicks and they are all different colors. Some of mine are sweet, but one is very loud and unfriendly. They grow their wings fast! However, mine are full of life and personality and are great members of my young flock. Mine are bantams and don't eat much. I love the bantams' little size and they are a joy to watch! If I had room, I would get some standards, but I don't. I would recommend these to anyone. I can't wait to see what their eggs look like!
Pros: None that I can think of!
Cons: Eats a lot, loud, unfriendly, picks my other hens feathers out
I like this bird at first, but it only got worse with age! My pullet is extremely loud, picks all the feathers out of my hen's backs. She also has no intention of being friends with me. Not to mention she eats tons. The only thing keeping her at bay is my EE bantam. I had a horrible experience with this breed and will never get another.

Pros: Cute, cool looking, friendly, hardy
Cons: That I don't own one yet!
These are the coolest chickens ever! I have heard nothing but good things about them! I can't wait or order one in my mixed flock this April!
