Happy Thanksgiving to you and the rest of you BYC folks!
Well, I finally settled in with 3 breeds of chickens free ranging in different areas BO, EE and Cream legbars. Oh but that couldn't be enough, I still have the pond (or what's left of it) that needs some fixtures on it so I have new...
Thanks for your reply!
I just went out and checked them on the roost and now have 7 or 8 doing the same thing, all wheezing and sneezing with no runny noses or watery eyes. I can't see a Vet until Monday but the first one I treated with Nutri-Drench and VetRX seems better tonight. I was hoping...
Thanks.
Thank you for the link! so far I haven't seen any watery discharge from the eyes and nostrils, just the wheezing and sneezing. Treating the roof of the mouth with the VetRX of the older hen showed a small amount of blood on the Q-tip also but the first bird I treated the blood was...
Hi folks...I have i5 Buff Orps. 18-months-old and 15 Buffs 18-weeks-old. They are free-ranging together and go to separate coops at night and I was about to have them all going to the same coop.
One of my 18-week-old pullets has what I think is a breathing problem. When she inhales there is a...
Help please!
Hi folks...One of my 18-week-old pullets has what I think is a breathing problem. When she inhales there is a raspy growl type sound and when she exhales it sounds like a kitten meowing. I gave her a little Nutri-Drench by mouth and I swabbed some VetRX into the roof of her mouth...
Anyone interested in 17-month-old laying hens, Black Australorps and Buff Orpingtons? I get 12 to 13 eggs /day from 19 of them. PM me if interested. I also have for sale some Roosters from an English BO Roo and American BO hens that are 13 weeks and as large as my grown hens.

I've been using a spray bottle but I think I'll order one of these.

I copied this: Ammonia fumes can be dangerous to the chickens, causing eye and lung problems. (And did you know that bleach can mix with the ammonia in chicken poop and create toxic fumes?
I clean everything with Oxine Animal Health Sanitizer (...
I got my first Cream Legbar eggs today. They didn't lay in the nest boxes but under the garden shed, two in a bale of pine straw and two in the gravel in a nest that resembles a Killdeer nest. They are small and a nice blue color. All my other chicken are laying well now.
Collected at noon...
It seems when I post the forum goes dark!
Well anyway I have a fine specimen that needs a new home. He is 20 weeks old, friendly and lives at the barn free to roam but hangs close. He is free to a fine backyard chicken person. He's a White Crested Black Polish Rooster with his crest up in...
Thanks kat!
I keep a dusting box in all the coops but they free range on grass and sometimes get caught in a heavy rain on the way to the coop or garden shed. I don't have much to do with it, they handle that all alone.
Some of the chicks I hatched this year. I have two CL roos out of nine that hatched, I sold the others. The Buffs are from an English BO roo and American BO hens. They are 9 weeks old and really large.

That's a turkey cooker I made into a feeder and it doesn't take...
Had a surprise this morning as I was checking chickens and gathering eggs. I have some free ranging EEs that roost in a hoop coop on the garden side of the lake. They turned 18 weeks yesterday and I changed them over to layer pellets. We give them fresh cold water every morning and check things...
I bought them as 2 day old and don't have a clue about parents. I bought 5 and they're all very different in color, size and shape.
I beginning to like the splash more also as they get older.
Hi folks...I got my new coop finished and nest boxes are ready to go in but no hurry for that.

Outside with temporary turn out until I finish my fences. They'll have an acre to free range around the lake. Panels cover the door and windows in winter time

New coop. The last one I built was a hoop coop tractor so I took this another step and am building an insulated hoop coop. This is under my shed roof at my shop and will be fenced off to the lake on one side and the existing fence on the other side to separate from my free ranging BOs. This one...
