    new feeders

Quote: I got the idea from you, and when I originaly posted about my feeder here... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=7646797#p7646797 I made sure to credit you with the idea. If we have to give credit to someone everytime that we post here it can become alittle tedious.

Quote: I sanded the treads off of the feeder with a drimmel tool, then a 2" PVC coupling was a perfect fit.

    new feeders

I did something similar to this for my brooder cage. I do suggest lowering the pipe so that it only allowes about an 1/8th of an inch for food so spread out. I have done this and have almost zero waste.

    Hatch-a-long starting 29th of November

Quote: We used a old mini-ice maker that we had laying around. I removed all the mechanical parts from the bottom area, that is now where I have the heating element (100w bulb). There are 2 - 4" computer fans that pull the air down from the floor of the incubation area, one also pulls air...

    Why do YOU keep quail?

I got them because I wanted to get more self sufficient with the food I am feeding my family. We just bought a home with 4 acres and I hope to alot more. When I was a kid, my father dabbled in quail, chickens, rabbis, etc... so I learned a little growing up. Quail seemed to be a good learning...

    My Experiences with Quail

Quote: Thanks, that is why I am doing this thread like I am. This forum is is full of great information from quail experts on how they are doing things, but short on information on how they got there. So I am trying to chronicle my journey as someone new to the hobbie.

    My Experiences with Quail

The girls turned 3 weeks over the weekend and as a treat I put a dust pan in with them. They loved it, it was fun to watch them as they discovered what it was for. After the first one dug in the rest came running. 18 quail trying to get into 5"x8" area, lol.

Why did you get quail? and a few other quail questions.

    1) Why did you get quail? Is it for the eggs, meat, pets or other? I got them to teach my young kids how to care/ raise our own food. Our Cots are now 3 weeks old. They will be manly for meat but will eat eggs as well. 2) What do you feed quail? Make your own feed or can I buy feed...
