Yes we do! Just dropped in to say a quick hello to everybody. Everything’s going great here. I have 16 chickens now. They’re all laying eggs like crazy. I’m ready for the weather to cool down. I love spring and fall. I am trying to decide whether to do supplemental light through the winter...
Hello! How is everybody? Just checking in. I have 6 baby chicks I plan to move outside next weekend with their mama heating pad set up. It snowed today😬
Hello, how are things doing around this site? I haven’t been here in a little bit. My chicken went broody again, sixth time in two years. So I decided that I would give her some eggs to hatch. A couple years ago I got some chicks from the feed store and one ended up being a rooster. So I gave...
Can’t you shoot the coyotes? That’s what I would do. I love animals, but I’m not going to let them eat my chickens. If you don’t want to shoot them I’m sure it’s easy to find somebody that will.
A friend of mine had to get rid of a bunch of roosters today. She let her broody hen hatch out checks, and ended up with three females and seven males :-( she found good homes for two of the roosters and gave the other ones to a family that will eventually make soup out of them. I was really...
I had them in the house for six weeks before I took them outside. Actually four weeks before I took them outside. And I brought in dirt from the yard so they would get used to the ground here. And then they were in a small enclosure inside the run. So I thought I did everything right for that...
Yeah, I guess I can do that. If it comes out positive I don’t know what to do next. I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. I got her at the feed store.
My dad and stepmom have two barn cats. They are 20 years old. They have learned where to go at night to stay safe. We all assume they are in the barn at night but don’t really know for sure. Either way it has worked. Usually country cats end up being Coyote dinner. But those two have done well.
One of my chickens is sick. One of the seven week old. About a month ago she had what I thought was a splayed leg, so I splinted it and she did much better. She was out with all the other chickens doing good, only an occasional limp but doing well. But today she wouldn’t get off the roost. And...
I got one of those tiny little eggs from one of my chickens today. I thought those only came from very young chickens when they first started to lay. But I guess not.
I haven’t ordered from them directly but they are aware a local feed store gets their chicks. I have gotten good chickens from them. And only one ended up being a rooster. Luckily I was able to find him a good home.
I made corn to beef and cabbage for the first time this year. Put the corn to beef in the oven wrapped in tinfoil and sautéed the cabbage with onions and garlic. It turned out pretty darn edible if I do say so myself :-) I’m not much of a cook so when something comes out good I am pleasantly...
My dog would come running in the kitchen too if I cussed while cooking. She knew I drop something. But she would leave it if I told her to leave it. And I definitely don’t allow my cats up on the counter or the kitchen table. Absolutely no way.
I find that if I really hurt myself I cuss less than I do when I do something stupid like a Papercut. I watch my language at work but otherwise I pretty much cuss like a sailor sometimes. A bad habit I need to change.
Your coop sounds a lot like mine. But I use PDZ on the poop board. But even with the PDC everything was frozen solid and I couldn’t even scrape it off the board. This summer I’m going to put down some linoleum or something to make it easier. Do you think I should switch to shavings on the...
