This lil one is the EE/SLW cross. Very curious to see how this one ends up. :) Has the barred feather patterning and the chipmunk pattern so far of the EE, the SLW colored legs (so far, but the mom of this one's legs started out yellow and turned gray).
My new babies, hatched out by one of my Buff Orpingtons. :) Have 2 full Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 Buff Orpington/ Silver Laced Wyandottes and an Easter Egger wyandotte :)
Don't worry! They will lay! :)
My remaining 2 are FINALLY showing the submissive squat, so shouldn't be much longer and they'll start laying. The rest of the EEs have been laying less than a month. :)
Thanks! :) Yea, that's my favorite I've been able to catch so far. That lil chick is the daredevil of the bunch. He's the same chick that's standing on Big Momma in the first pic!
Thank you! And my pleasure :) Big Momma is COMPLETELY in her element with these guys. I had everything ready just in case i needed to brood them when they hatched out if she wasn't going to take care of them...but she is being a great momma to them! So awesome to not have to do anything aside...
Haven't been over here in awhile....thought I'd update. Almost all of my hens are laying now :) Also, had one of my first layers go broody. We decided to let her hatch out some eggs...
Introducing Big Momma and the littles! Have 5 healthy babies. They're about a week old now!
Well, it's official! My EE Pepper is 100% female! :) Got my first egg from her today! She is one we had gone back and forth on pretty much from day 1 back in March! :)
Not sure on how many eggs they lay weekly, but a couple of my orps just started laying. Right now, one in particular is giving 1 egg every day. A couple of the others seem to be every other day.
They are by far a very fun breed. I have several that are super friendly and enjoy being held and...
Just throwing in an update!
Several of my Buff Orps have just started laying! 5 for sure have come from one of the BOs since Saturday, when she started to lay. Have gotten 8 eggs so far. We made omelets this morning :)
Still waiting to find out on this one. Been baffled on it fir awhile. Actually, it has no pointy hackle or saddle feathers coming in, despite having sickle feathers in the tail. The comb and wattles are pretty much non-existent despite being 3rowed and is barely turning red. At 19 weeks old...
Update on what the chicks grew into! They're now going on 19 weeks or so....getting ready to start laying!
