yes not all chickens get to be that big but the breeds I had the most of were larger fowl and I waited that long because in my area we have owls and hawks. Plus it took me about that long to rotate the chicks from the various brooding pens I had until I could get them familiar with the adult...
I watched a lot of you tube videos from Soaping 101 and read a few books too. Then I researched a few sites listing the various oli properties for soaping. For example castor oil is good for bubbles. Tallow is good for bar hardness.
First one decides on oils they want to use. Second one...
Once in a while I make mayo. I still have not found a recipe that suits my DH.
I have made several batches of soap with it. Ohh it is marvelous at soap making.
Other random uses, mincing onions, chopping peppers, making eggnog (this can be done in the ninja blender too),..
Just to see if they...
I like my 3 speed kitchen aid stick blender. I got it from an open box deal last year. IT was a great price then. Currently the price for a new one as part of a set on Amazon is about $60. Then there is the stainless steel 5 speed kitchen aid stick blender. Now that one is much more money...
So what are some things that can cause a chicken to sneeze? I have healthy birds and I sell them. So far I have one guy who bought birds last year and again this year. Each time he has called back to say his birds are sneezing. But my birds are not sneezing or sick. I've had the full grown...
I was reading an old pamphlet on the site I get my lye from. It said to mix lye with water and spray the chicken bedding down to help it compost faster. Anyone still doing this? If so can you tell me how it works and if its worth the hassle. I was going to try it but I don't want to kill off...
May I ask what you are treating them with.
And then a sales post. I won't get anything from someone ordering but I thought of this thread when I placed my order.
For those of you interested in herbs and natural stuff, http://mountainmeadowherbs.com is having a buy one get one sale next Wed...
a squirt of dish soap in the water, garlic in the food, ACV in the water, extremely spicy red pepper in the food, there are lots of options for controlling worms
Have you thought of making soap? Soap uses up a lot of oil, just be careful to keep the hard oils like tallow capped to 50% of the soap can crack easily as it cures.
@flyladyrocks for lice I would use chemicals but for worms I add dish soap to the water. Just plain cheap dish soap nothing with lotion added. I use about the same amount I would to wash a sink of dirty dishes for each gallon of water. Sometimes a bit more. We get ours from Sams so the...
I had a batch of headache chicks in the past. Almost made me want to give up on them. As with all things it will pass. I hope you get the lice under control.
I've skipped well over 80 pages but I'd thought I start back in the thread and attempt to keep up. We just finished deworming with...
we found something a bit smaller and of course cheaper for out expected kidding season. My first coop I did not think of pricing used sheds and ended up with a very expensive coop kit that looks like a tiny shed. It was an educational expense more than a chicken expense.
