Cyn - this post is long overdue I know. I told you I would get some pictures but I have just been so busy trying to keep up with everything. Anyway, I finally took some today.
This is my new barred rock breeder Tux, Hawkeye's son!
Told you he was a handsome fellow!
Thought I would share pic of our Blue Jersey Giants with their chicks....OK, only one is "their" offspring but she hatched all of them and they don't know it!
This is Belle, one of my Blue Jersey Giant hens, with her week old chicks. She hatched 6 RIR, 2 Barred Rocks, and 1 black Jersey Giant...
I definitely removed mine. I suggest you all do the same. Now you can see anyone's Driver's License on the Internet, including your own! I just searched for mine and there it was ... picture and all! Thanks Homeland Security!
Go to the web site, and check it out. It's unbelievable!!! Just...
Last week I bought a pair and a trio of Millie FLeur d'Uccles from the Crosstimbers Ranch in Texas. We selected Monday of this week to ship since our weather was going to be exceptionally warm Monday, Tuesday and, today.
At 730 this morning my son was on the phone to the post office and the...
Ok, you know you are a hatch-a-holic when this happens. I set 40 of my mixed breed eggs three weeks ago. I didn't annotate the date and over the weekend I started trying to figure out when day 18 would be. For some reason I thought I set the eggs on a Sunday so I thought today would be day 18...
Here are a few pics I took at the Raleigh Meet. If I messed up any of the captions I apologize in advance. If anyone sees an error or wants me put additional captions on who everyone is just send me a pm with picture number and info and I will update captions.

have you seen the news about an accident in Washington dc that has caused the worst traffic jam in dc since 911?
Well I am about 300 yards from it and have not moved since 3pm!
Don't know what it is but I see a ton of fire trucks and ambulances. So, I'm reading byc on my iPhone!
My wife just got home and told me I better go check on my chickens because she saw a huge bird with claws like an eagle. The egg layer chickens were freeranging so I went out and rounded them back into their pen with cracked corn..... one Barred Rock and one RIR was missing.
As I was counting...
what is the earliest age a pullet can be integrated into a coop with a roo and hen? Size wise they are almost as big as the hen, but I don't know what they will do when the roo tries to do his thing I do want to get them in the coop as soon as I can.
Broody Wins hands down.....
My hatch is complete. I started incubating two days before one of my RIR's went broody. I decided to let her sit on 9 eggs. I had 31 eggs in the bator of which 21 were shipped eggs.

Thought I would check on the broody and when I opened the door there were three cutle little fluffy chicks with her! They look better than the ones I have in the house. I wonder how many she can handle? Could I put the 8 with her?
I know I'm never supposed to open the incubator after day 18. So heres my question. It appears as if my eggs are going to hatch over the course of a few days. I have two chicks that have been in the bator for a day and a half and others that are already fluffy and ready for the brooder. Do you...
I was just asked a question and it got me thinking.... I have ideal 236 hens that lay a ton of white eggs. The rooster is a top hat mutt. My top hat females lay light cream colored eggs. Will the offspring from the ideal236 crossed with the top hat roo produce white eggs?
