Went out this morning, saw this beautiful picture on front of me. I know, not many eggs, but for some reason, I just had this great appreciation for these pretty eggs. I've always loved gathering my eggs. I've seen many fun situations when I went to gather the eggs. I don't imagine that all...
Look what this tiny little thing gave me today. I get them often with the leghorn.
Who else loves the leghorn..there may already be a thread on them. Didn't see one, so, I am just putting this out there.
After all of the years that I've had pullets start laying, I've never seen this happen before. My black OE was in a nest box..I was so excited, her first egg. She was panting pretty hard. I waited, then when I saw her out in the yard, I went back to find two! Little bantam sized eggs.
And...
I have looked and looked, but I can't find something. I would like to suggest the "educator" or friend, that is underneath the avatar of folks. Not sure what's it's called. :p Example, the yellow one for friend, there are a few.
Is there a link to that?
For a friend that keeps thinking boy, but I think pullet..it's RIW, this particular person breeds them pretty big. :)
5 and a half months old..no crowing yet..no egg yet. Sooo
Just got an ad in my e-mail today..I usually use Denagard twice a year as a cautionary dose, love it! But this stuff is chhttp://meyerhatchery.com/productinfo.a5w?cat_id=1027&category=Poultry%20Supplies&grd_prodone_filter=PRODUCT_ID%20%3D%20%27VRX%27&aid=119eaper! Wondered if it works?
I hatched this one out of a very nice heritage RIW breeder's flock. Thought I was keeping a girl. Looks like maybe not. ?? Hatched on May 12th this year. A few photos at different angles for the comb and wattles..that's what's throwing me, not much there as a comb or wattle. The tail...
This is a 3 and a half month old that has had me wondering for a while. Got red pretty quick, last part of last month. Now, it's huge. I think I know. :( I wanted a pullet. A lot of photos, this one didn't want me around!
I'm not seeing saddle feathers..there is no crow yet...
I am thinking pullet because of the body feathering, but, that comb and wattles popped out pretty big. I know they do have a large comb and wattles, I just couldn't remember when they started to turn red and big. This one is 9 weeks old.
Thanks for the thoughts! Hope I'm right, thinking...
Got a letter from Ideal today. I have heard they were going to do this, but why? Are they going to take better care of our chicks? Are they going to call us and let us know our chicks have arrived, even from transfer Offices? Are they going to keep them in a warm place, or cool place for us...
Got this baby in an order today. I can't think of what it could be..it does have the chipmunk stripes..that could be a few different breeds. Pretty sure it is not a Welsummer. Or a brown leghorn. I got some of those too, they don't have the circles around the eyes..
Thanks for any ideas!
I'm so tired of mice and sparrows. They are all over the place here in Utah. I will be out there taking care of the chickens, and the mice just look up at me like they are saying, hurry up, I'm hungry. They won't even move until I move toward them! So, found this trap. They go in for the...
Here is a blue girl that I decide to take some pictures of. She was just standing there, then curled her leg and foot up, I was talking to her, and here's what she had to say back at me...or ask I should say.
Mom? When is this cold going away? My feet are so cold!! That's what she said...
Could the moult cause this? She has been moulting a good month now. How long do they moult? I have heard that moulting can cause the soft shelled eggs. I was lucky I guess, because up until yesterday, she was laying normal shelled eggs. Today, she looks more naked than ever! I am thinking...
I did post this bird on the Polish thread, no answer yet..maybe there is a knowledgeable polish person here? Thank you..I took a lot of the back..not sure I'm seeing saddle feathers yet..5 weeks, and 2 days old..almost 6 weeks, which is what they suggest to wait for in asking, boy I'm anxious...
