I've had these two girls for 8 days now. They are healthy, happy, and they've integrated just fine. No problems. But NO EGGS! What gives? They don't look old, but then again, I'm no expert. The weather has been great - high 50's during the day. What do you think? Are they holding out, or...
I was told the one in the first picture is a Black Sex Link and the one in the middle picture (with the cute white earlobes) is a Blue Leghorn. Would you agree?
Thank You :)
Poor Blondie, I thought she was molting or that she was being picked on by another girl. Now I think that it might be something else. I hope someone might be able to give me some ideas of what else it could be. She seems healthy otherwise, and my other five girls are just fine.
Thanks,
Sue
My 6 girls free range most of the time in my 1/3 acre backyard. Unfortunately their favorite spot is this small spot which we landscaped BEFORE we had the girls. There must be something in the dirt there that they've taken a liking to, because we go through this EVERY DAY........ they dig it...
I have 6 five month old girls...... 2 have been laying for a couple of weeks now, and the other 4 will be any minute now. Two of the four keep going in and out of the coop, jumping in the nest box and squawking their silly heads off. Actually they are squawking (BAWK! BAWK! BAWK!) most of the...
I got my first egg on Wednesday! It was from my Gold Sex Link, Blondie. Yesterday there was the second egg - it looked just like the first, so I thought it was another from Blondie, but Michelle , my Barred Rock is ready to start laying as well, so now I'm wondering...... will I be able to tell...
The other five I'm pretty sure are girls, but Foggy's comb is getting bigger and redder every day. Do you think she's a girl? (S)he's about 16-17 weeks old.
Hi! Remember me?
I'm Sophie, the dog who broke into the chicken tractor to sleep with the chickens. I'm not sure what all the fuss was about, but since we've now been formally introduced, I thought I'd stop by to say Hi.
I now keep watch over these 6 scatterbrained little babies. I...
Thanks to this great forum, I've read about hanging the cabbage, so this morning I hung up an ear of corn. They were afraid of it at first, but in a few minutes they loved it!! It was as amusing for me as it was for them!
I'm trying to resolve a feather plucking issue, and I've read lots of...
DH is ready to shoot me, ha ha. I've showed him soooo many pictures and plans. Every day I show him one and say "OOOH, look at this idea!"
I took this picture a few weeks ago of one of the chicks, and didn't realize what was in the background - I think it should say "STOP LOOKING AT ALL THOSE...
Our six chicks are 7-8 weeks old and are still in a temporary tractor at night while we're finishing up their permanent house. Until last week they were in our kitchen in their brooder. We have two dogs, and I'm not too worried about the smaller, older one, but Sophie (she was a rescue dog...
Dumpling is 7 to 8 weeks old. She is the only one of six girls who has this problem. The other five have beautiful feathers, but poor Dumpy is losing them on her back. I've been watching closely, and I have never seen any of the others picking on her. I have not seen her preening more than...
I welcome your suggestions and recommendations......
I'm starting on my first coop ....... six chicks ........... the coop will be 8' x 7' (part of it will be for tools). I've spent the last three weeks reading all the posts, and I think I've looked at every single picture of chicken coops...
