Hello a while ago I posted on this thread about the same chicken.
Well she has just gotten worse. I even placed her inside the house where she lived for more than 1 week.
We fed her food and gatorade, and some scrambled eggs.
She has trouble even getting up, she limps heavily and uses her wings...
Thank you for your help! She is doing MUCH better today!
she came running up to me.
I just got through checking on her for the evening and she was sitting on top of the chicken garden instead of on top of the roost with the others.
So I moved her to the roost. I think she may be avoiding the...
Thank you so much for your quick response!
She ate some food after we took her into the house.
She started to get lonely and looked for the other hens.
I haven't brought any new chicks/hens into my flock.
Her poop was green and healthy, it wasn't diarrhea.
She's been laying eggs but we can check...
Hello I have a 2 year old White Cochin (standard).
She doesn't seem to be feeling well and I don't know what I can do to help her.
It may be all this cold weather that is making her act unwell.
She is usually very energetic and comes immediately when you call her.
However my sister said today...
Hello! I am so sorry to hear of this!
There is a solution though!
People usually take eggs (plastic or a real egg) and put mustard on it.
I haven't heard of a chicken who likes mustard but this trick usually does the trick!
When they taste that mustard they usually will stop being an egg...
Hello everyone!
I have some concerns for my Buff Brahma hen. She is 2 years old but ever since her best pal JC the white Cochin passed away last year she has developed some bad habits.
She over eats to the point when she walks or runs her chest looks like it is about to rip off of her body.
She...
Thanks for all of your replies!
Well her parents are afraid that she may get bored with them and not care for them.
But I begged it different. I think if she has to work hard for them she wouldn't get lazy.
She's very responsible when it comes to animals.
She says she tried sitting them down and...
So my friend has been BEGGING for some chickens. Her community allows it and after 3 years of begging her mom has finally said OK. BUT only if her dad says yes. But he keeps saying no. Unless she can convince him why chickens are good.
Is there anyone out there who is willing to help my friend...
I have a 1 year old Australorp which I raised from a baby chick.
She has always been so sweet and loving, and thus she cuddles with me. Or she did...
But for some odd reason, she is the ONLY chicken to experience molting...
I have had her for 1 year and she is going through her 2nd or 3rd molt...
My White Cochin's name was JC.
JC was a very wonderful pet to me.
She would do what I called a ROCKET SQUAT!
For some reason(s) JC was NOT a poor egg layer.
She would lay 7 days a week!
If I couldn't count on my other chickens to lay, my lovely JC would have an egg for me!
One of the funny...
I live in TX and I had a White Cochin. (standard)
She was always doing very well and healthy, and I did all I could last summer to keep her cool.
Sprinkler system was going, the fan was hooked from the garage and into their coop etc. . .
Last summer was WAY WAY hotter than this summer...
Well, at first I thought it may be some other animal...
But... IT would have to be rodents who could dig and dig underground.
My chickens have a coop, then a personal yard that is fully fenced around and covered with a bird net so hawks can't fly in and swoop them away.
I could tell it may be...
Yesterday when I went to check on the nesting boxes, all of them where clean and had all of the nesting straws in it.
However, this morning I went to check on my hens and two nesting boxes had blood.
The one on the bottom shelf was just a streak of dried blood here and there.
The nesting box on...
Thank you guys so much for replying and giving me insights on the white Leghorns~
I do understand they are at the top for Egg Production~
Since I already have my "Pet" chickens, I guess it won't really matter if the Leghorns don't let me hold them, as long as they don't try to challenge me. C:<...
JC our White Cochin (Stadard & Large Fowl).
She's sweet, but she is a diva.. She is picky HOW you feed her treats.
*sigh* But she makes it up for that face and build!
I am interested in getting more babies for my flock.
My cousin has 3 white leghorns that are the best egg producing machines!!
They are incredible!
I am interested in getting some of those... but the only thing that keeps me from it is..
Are they really docile enough to hold and kiss, and cuddle...
