Hi friends,
We have found a new trend with this year's goslings that we did not experience last year. My two oldest goslings an embden and toulouse absolutely love undoing my boot laces at every opportunity. And as soon as I tie them up bang their back in pulling them apart again. Has...
I thought I should update you all on our yearling and her beak. On Thursday the resin fell of her beak. Whilst not bleeding the open wound needed further support so our local vet decided on two options. One was to put her under and see if we could glue wire the wound close. The main concern...
Hi all
We had an absolute nightmare scenario when letting our geese out of their night shed yesterday. One of the female yearlings wobbles had caught her beak on some mesh welded fencing (Used to seperate the nesting mum from the others).
The end result was that she split her top mandible...
Greetings all been a busy weekend our latest batch of embdens hatched out , all six are girlie's we suspect. The other suprise was that one of our ladies hatched two more in the shed.
Happy Easter all:
So imagine our suprise tonight, 28th day and checked on the final five eggs embdens. You need to understand we have a brinsea 190, so we have different eggs at different weeks. About to transfer the five into the lock down bator for the final stage and 4 of the 5 have...
Hi:
Incubating some mini appleyard eggs for a mate. Can the forum please confirm the hatching period for these ducks. I am thinking 28 days but I am not sure.
hi she is 4 weeks we got her as a pal to our first embden who hatched on her own. Its amazing how their natures are so different. We now have 2 younger embdens 10 days and the toulouse will happily sit with them whilst her embden sister just wants to eat them !!!
5 more due to hatch this easter.
Good luck Ruru. Learnt the hard way this morning not to mess with nature. Our broody goose has been sat for 30 days and it looks that the last of the eggs are duff. We had one externally piping in the incubator yesterday so I thought it would be good to let the mum goose hatch her out. I...
Ruru I've had eggs blow and the hen goose has still hatched others in the nest. She tends to either discard the egg or eat it. This year we have one broody girl who leaves the nest most evenings for a quick walk with her fella. When she does this the wife or I checks the eggs and candle them...
Update on the six in lockdown, 2 hatched one pipping, of the two hatched one doing fine the other loojs very sickly and still half in her egg. Will update tomorrow. Bye the way where do most folk rear up the goslings in the early weeks. We have particularly active rats round here so forvthe...
Thanks been doing some hunting since and tend to agree. We picked her up from a local poultry breeder who tried to tell us she was an embden which I knew she was not. Main thing is that after 24 hours our young gosling and our new bird are best mates resting heads on each other in the brooder...
Re our photo they've been together less than 24 hours and they have really taken to each other. I am just not sure what our latest young friend is, black beak and black legs.
