Lost a baby chick today :(

Lost my silkie chick, who was about 2 weeks old. She ate and everything fine, had poop stuck to her bum the first couple days I had her, but not lately. We found her with a huge poop stuck to her bum, at least the circumference of a quarter. Does that sound like anything anyone has heard of?

First time with Chicken raising baby...

Can I get a 101 on how to set up and what to expect/ what I need with this? My silkie was broody and hatched 1 egg today, and she seems to be a good mama so far. She's in a large coop with 3 other chickens and is the alpha chicken. The coop floor is dirt and a little straw. I was thinking a...

Help- broody chicken and no eggs made it

My silkie has been sitting on some adoptive eggs for 17 days now. My expletive deleted dogs have been sneaking in the coop whenever the mama is out stretching her legs and eating her eggs, so she was down to 2 as of today. Until just now, when I spaced and left to coop door open when I was...

    Oh no!

Im pretty sure I'm allergic to chickens. We kept them in the house for a couple days but I noticed my nose was itching, and we moved them to the garage. Im still a mess even after a good house cleaning, but Ive been handling the babies daily. We might have to return the chicks at this point...

I have this great window I picked up at an antique store a while ago, and was thinking maybe I could install it somehow into my coop? So, first off, he said the silkies are a week to two weeks, but they look a little rough? Is there any way to tell yet if they are girls/boys? Is there anything I'm missing at this point? How does the brooder look? Should I toss in a dirt/weed clump yet or is that not until another week? Is it...
