The Christmas Condo Coop
My wife has wanted to raise a few laying chickens for a while now so I'm building her a coop.
Since it's a Christmas present for my wife and my cousin says that the chickens have a condo.
It's the "Christmas Condo Coop".
Step 1:
Find a large scrap pile to pick...
The coop came thru with flying colors during the blizzard yesterday. Everyone stayed in nice and snug.
18 inches of snow! The coop is definitely NOT going anywhere until spring!
I had to shovel off the top of the covered run today.

Our coop is always on the trailer and it's working great. When the chickens got the grass dug out to the bare dirt in the run we just move it. Moves real easy by hand and if I have to go around the house or up the hill, I hook it up to the truck.
I left the winch on the trailer just in...
Here's our coop - it's insulated because we are in WI too! And it has an extension cord run thru the wall to be able to have a lamp/heater in it if we need for winter.
We call the time we spend watching the chickens 'Farm TV - Chicken Channel".
It's all live and never any re-runs.

Ours in Wisconsin barn red and it's fine - plenty of cross-ventilation. And I think the color will help with passive solar heat in our cold Wis. winters.
Here's what I did on the people door of my coop. I'm in NW Wisconsin and I didn't want snow blowing into the coop thru the screen. Plus it'll keep the rain off.
