Really? right before Easter... how long will this last???

I have 15 hens, and for the last 2 weeks have been getting 0-2 eggs a day. Is this because they are molting? How long will this last? :(

Official BYC Poll: The Worst Predator

I don't know what is getting mine. Whatever it is doesn't eat the entire thing, most of the chicken is still there when I find her. The stomach is ripped open and the neck is mangled..... If anyone knows what would be the culprit, I would love to know....

    Ah Crud... Hidden nests

    So Confused... Please Help!!!

I have 9 hens that are almost a year old. I bought 15 new babies on March 4 of this year. Yesterday we put chicken wire up so they could be in the coup without getting killed by the older ones. When I went in the coup today, there was an older hen in with the younger ones and she was laying her...

Aggressive Rooster! Any Way to Keep him from hurting Children?

I had to get rid of my rooster because he was attacking my kids. I won't stand for my kids crying if they have to go to the coup. I loved my rooster but there was no way for me to get him nice...

asked a million times but here it is again

I recently got rid of my rooster and my 9 hens seem fine, however I am only getting 3-4 eggs a day. My mother-in-law says its because I have no rooster so they won't lay now. I have been told you don't need a rooster for the hens to lay. Anyone know???

    Egg Washing

I do not wash my eggs. When its rainy outside the eggs get mud/poo chunks on them. If its not muddy then they are spotless. My question is, should I wash them or just do as I have been? Most of the time the eggs are spotless, but there have been a few with gunk on them. I gave a dozen eggs to my...

    Are they all laying

I have 10 hens and 8 have been laying for a while now. The last few days I have gotten a few really small eggs, are they from new layers or could it be my other one just laying a smaller egg??? :fl

    How long to wait

I was thinking of incubating some eggs, and was wondering how long do I leave them on the counter before putting them in the incubator. Also, my incubator doesn't have a turner, so how often do I need to turn them and how far do I turn them? I would love to have this work, but am very worried. u

    Finally!!! :-)

She's right around 23 weeks. The funny thing is she doesn't sing either, all the other girls sing. When a hen goes into the coup to lay all the other girls sing, not the one going in to do her thing. Does anyone know if EE's will lay every day or close to every day??? I would love to get a nice...

    Finally!!! :-)

My EE finally laid her first egg! I heard the egg song from another hen and when I went to the coop my EE was in one of the nest boxes (first time ever). I waited out of the coup and when she came running out I was so excited. I went in and was VERY happy to see a cute little sea foam green egg...

    BOSS Question???

When giving chickens BOSS, do you put it in a feeder or put it out like you would scratch?
  20. MedinaChick2001

    Scratch???

Thank you so much! I will be getting some BOSS today. I would rather give them something that is good for them. I had been giving them scratch, but didn't get to the feed store and had ran out. Now when I go today I will get BOSS instead. THANK YOU!!!!!
