I have some BCMs in a stock tank in the garage that range from 6-8 weeks old that are suddenly not standing and flopping around. I ordered them from another BYCer, got them in the mail and they were mixed age (1 week old - 6 weeks old i think). Since being at my house for the past 5ish weeks...
Looking for BCM chicks! Raccoons wiped us out and DH and I were hoping to completely switch our flock over to them by next spring. We only have 2 cockerals and one pullet left out of 12.... not to mention all our kids 4H chickens were wiped out too.
Let me know if you have some to sell.

I may possibly be getting a 4ish month old BBB hen tomorrow and already have a 1 year old BR tom (and hen). Just wondering if anyone has crossed them (or similar) and would it make a more "intermediate growth" turkey? Kinda like everyone on the meat bird forum trying to make something in between...
Any ideas on how to keep him eating? We have him and a buddy in a 6x8 dog kennel with a tarp over it. I put ACV in their water, higher protein feed, light on the feed at night... but now our days are getting 95-100 degrees. They just sit there in the shade, panting. Our garage isn't cooled, so...
Here is my hubby's chicken. His name is Kielbasa... get it? He has ALWAYS wanted a Polish chicken. I was lucky enough to be able to hatch him and one other egg from Hot2Pot in the April Egg Swap. He is approximately 4-5 weeks old. We are really really hoping its a cockeral since another BYCer...
We just picked up this guy for my son's 4H project. He told us it is a Broad breasted Bronze about 3.5 months old. What do you all think? We only had to drive 5 hours from home to get him.... OK, we were already 4 hours across the state on a little "vaca" so just another hour. What's an entire...
Here's the only turkey I have from someone else. I thought it was a BR and it could be, but it looks soooo different from mine. I think she said she had BRs and RPs, but RPs are all yellow when they're hatched, right? This one has never had any light yellow.
Anyone else at high altitude sick of having horrible shipped egg hatches or already giving up altogether on the idea?
I'd love to see a high altitude only egg swap like the crazy egg chain. For example, I'm at 4500 ft. I would assume anything over 3000 ft would qualify, although it is...
I realize its much too early for gender, but it's just so cute, I had to share!!! I got him to hatch from the April Egg Swap from Hot2Pot. He hatched on May 19, so he's 2 1/2 weeks old.
So when I went to collect eggs yesterday late afternoon after getting home from work, I saw one of my two BR hens laying just inside the coop. I knew immediately that this was not OK. One hen has been broody and sitting in a chicken nest box in approximately the same spot and she is doing fine...
We have been doing a test run to try this all out. We started with 6 regular Cornish Cross and 6 intermediate growth Cornish Cross. We built a 10x10 ft wire chicken tractor so it wasn't as gross as it could have been. However this past week, they have gotten stinkier and stinkier! I swear, I...
I have a trio of BR's, 1 tom and 2 hens that are just 1 year old. One hen started laying towards the end of Feb and has mostly laid every other day, sometimes 2 out of 3 days. The other hen started laying much later, lays only about once evey 3 or 4 days and hasn't laid one egg in well over a...
I live in western Colorado at about 4500 ft elevation. I've received 5 shipments of well packed eggs and have not gotten ONE to hatch!!!!!!!!!!!! The most common problem is that they make it to the day before lockdown and then fail! WHY?????? I know they need more oxygen so I'm only putting...
So I've been trying to hatch shipped eggs, but I'm at 4500 ft in elevation. So I haven't hatched ANY so far and I've received 5 different shipments! So what usually happens (other than detached air cells) is that the chick starts forming, then about halfway when you're not expecting, I candle...
Why is it that I have been having incubator temp issues so my hatch percentage has fallen through the floor, YET my parents (in their 80s) can hatch a birds nest in the engine compartment of their Trailblazer!!!!!!!!!!!! They drive it into town about every other day and those little suckers...
Tell me about your longest stored eggs and how you did it. I saw the Target ad today and they had a mini wine fridge, so it got me thinking about storing eggs longer at the "ideal setting" before incubating. This would be so we could hatch some very very early turkeys next winter/spring for my...
I was at Murdochs today and I went in saying "No chickens, no chickens" per my hubby's request. So I had to get some feed and another feeder and of course look at the chicks. (Hey I had my kids with me, there was no getting out of it!!!)
Much to my surprise, there were 4 stocktanks full of...
So we signed my 8 yo son up for 4H last night and he wants to raise a bourbon red turkey as a Market turkey class. Well they have to be 16 weeks old by fair and our first two that we hatched will be 16 weeks and ONE DAY! They also need to be 14 lbs for a female or 16 lbs for a male. Is this even...
Just wondering. Are they extra delicate? This is the first time I've incubated any shipped eggs and I received 9 nicely packaged eggs, but when I candled, all but two had detached air cells. I set them on 4/6 and I candled today and one is definetly developing with another possible one. The...
