    The Winter granny square swap.

Oh I understand that! A LOT has changed here for sure. I got here in late '06 and so much has changed in just that amount of time! There are stores all the way down Western now, and Western and Gumbranch connect. The Mall is the same size, but there are more stores. They added an Ulta and a Red...

    The Winter granny square swap.

I'm totally in! Sorry... I was just replying to Kassaundra! We're on the gardening forum together. **ETA I just keep forgetting that this place is MUCH bigger than TEG... so I keep forgetting to quote people! I'll try to do better!

    The Winter granny square swap.

We like it here. We bought a little house and have our little urban homestead here. :-) Since hubby medically retired from the Marine Corps, he's been thinking about going back to school to get his masters in Bio and working for the EPA or for the State. What made you move from Maysville?

    "Scab" on nose and beak

That's what I'm thinking as well... (hopefully... LOL) Someone suggested avian pox... but it just doesn't look like the pictures that I've seen of it.

I would really like to participate... if you don't mind a newbie!! I did make BIG Granny square blankets for my kids for Christmas a couple years ago. :)

    "Scab" on nose and beak

About a month ago, I introduced 3 new hens to my flock. They are older hens, about a year and a half, and mine are still under a year. The pecking order ensued and everything has mostly calmed down at this point. One of my girls had part of her comb ripped off (used neosporin type stuff on it)...

    The Buff Orpington Duck Thread

In their 8x24 there is no grass, with bare ground, but the back yard has plenty of grass to spare! :) We also feed them an all flock ration as well, they're not exclusively free range. Since it's getting to be winter, the grass is starting to die out, but there ARE still green patches out there...

    The Buff Orpington Duck Thread

My husband and I are contemplating Buffs as a Spring addition to our flock... we are either going to go with Meyer Hatchery, or Metzer. It looks like Metzer we could order 4 for just a couple dollars more than we could order 3 from Meyer. We already have 6 ducks as is, 4 Pekin, a Campbell, and...

    Duck food

Oooh! I guess I should see if they have that because it specifically says on the Nutrena website to NOT feed it under 7 weeks old

    Duck food

So, I've been feeding my ducks (4 Pekin) the Dumor feed from TSC. I then switched to Nutrena Country Feeds because that what our local "non big box" feed place has. (My husband and I like to support local businesses whenever possible, and it didn't hurt that it was a dollar less expensive for...

    Pekin nest with eggs?

I just peeked out the window out there... it seems that one of the ducks IS sitting on the eggs... I can see a white head sticking up above the grass that surrounds the back side of the pool. Opinions? Move them? Get rid of them? or leave them?

    Pekin nest with eggs?

Mmmmm... no. But I HAVE seen Steve do this little head bob thing.. LOL I'm not here all the time so I don't believe I've ever really watched to see if they've been mating.

    Pekin nest with eggs?

I have 4 Pekin... 3 ducks and a drake. I got 2 of the birds from TSC when they were having their chick days earlier this year. The other 2 I traded for because I had 2 mallard drakes. Well, the 2 that I traded for were a little older, and had already started laying. They laid for a few days and...

Q about Penicillin for a duck with bumblefoot

So, I got these 2 new Pekin females from a breeder in our area. I only went with him because some others had told me that they had really good experience with him. When I get there, the chicken enclosures look decent, but the duck enclosure was HORRENDOUS!! It was a decent size, and there were...

New duck with bumblefoot?? Please help!!

It looks like we weren't using a big enough needle. I will have to go to TSC tomorrow and get some. I should only need 3 or 4 right?
