Spring is starting to... spring! LOL! So, things are really busy around the Ranch right now. Getting the ground ready for planting, etc. Preparing a new pasture. Still repairing from all that wonderful storm damage. It's hard to find the time to get on here, like I used to. Bummer!
I think...
One of my Geese just dropped (I would have said laid, but that sounds like she knew what she was doing) an egg on my dogs outdoor hammock! What's hilarious is, there were three of them standing on the hammock, and the egg was just rolling around between them, and they're all looking at it like...
Just checking in on my fellow Oregonians with all this lovely weather... We had our barn roof collapse in yesterday, thankfully on the storage/equipment side, so the animals are safe. But looks like we lost quite a bit of equipment, etc. Won't know how much until everything dries out a bit. We...
Hey y'all! Look what I found in my nest box today! Somebody laid her first egg! Had to have been one of the Buff's or Sex-Links as it's brown.
And during the Winter, no less! I'm so proud! Ha ha!

Okay, so today I got some new jammie bottoms, polar bears on a blue background. I tried them on right away and I'm modeling them in the living room, while still wearing the black velvet top and red scarf that I had worn to church that morning, when my partner says, "Honey...
Seriously bad video quality, had to change the tint to be able to see the Geese. My camera wasn't dealing well with the low lighting/artificial light conditions. I'll get a better one as soon as possible! But wanted to share what I could of how the Geese are doing.
Just got back in from...

Geese wrangling successful. They are on their way to a new home!
A link to a video will be posted later, but for now, here's a picture of Hockmangirl and me in front of the caged geese.

I have a truck and enclosed horse trailer, but surely there is someone out there with a truck and/or trailer closer than me. It's not the drive from Forest Grove to Colton, it's the 250 miles from Grants Pass to Forest Grove (and 250 back) that is causing my problem. Come on...
I've got the barn all cleaned out, raked, and bedded down, so it's ready and waiting for the Geese!
We're going to purchase a "Giant" sized wire crate, that should hopefully hold all eight Geese, at least to get them home. Only problem is, I don't think that it will fit in my SUV. It's...
CALLING ALL (LOCAL) OREGONIANS!
Okay all, it's a GO!!! Rescue date is going to be Thursday or Friday (early, so we can beat the dark) afternoon! Whatever works best for all volunteers! But we could use some more people power, and also a truck if anyone has one available (still hoping for the...

Well, if it wasn't the Holiday Season, I'd say, "What the heck, come on up and we'll make a day of it!" Ha ha! We could hang out, share stories and a great meal, etc. Make it a OR ~ BYC get together/party!
You can be sure, we'll keep everyone updated!

PM'd you the info. It IS a good idea for the guy (or a bunch of folks) from F & F to be there. So it's not questioned, and also because we might need the people power. Will be interesting to corral and capture Geese.
Plus an extra person to capture it on video...

No, not a minor! Oh, thank you for that laugh! I'm 31! But my Mum and I run the ranch/farm together, so didn't want to add to her work load/financial responsibility to, without permission. Ha ha ha!
I was a vegan for years, before an allergy to wheat/soy/dairy was...

Okay. My Mum says we can do it. Just need to figure a plan for catch and transport. Have some ideas already. Please go ahead & contact the folks at Friends of Fernhill Wetlands & let me know what the next thing you/they need from my end is. Thank you so much!
I'm...
