That's a great idea and I have been looking for a second incubator. I'm hoping to find one on CL or something. The one I have was free. Really don't have the money to spend but guess in the long term it would save me money I'm losing on eggs and chicks

this might sound silly but have you considered leaving in the turner in and just unplugging it? From what I understand the biggest danger is from the chicks getting crushed by the motor.
I've also seen people use egg cartons with dowels that they just rock back and forth....

The temp went from 99-100 down to 95-96 the next morning after I took out the turner. This is my third hatch using the turner where I had lots of dead fully formed babies in the eggs. I have 2 I helped hatch that are doing ok and 1 I helped that didn't make it. 4-5 others were just dead in the egg.
Well my EE hatch is over. I think I have figured out the problem with losing eggs right about lockdown. I have used a turner and when I lock down I take it out. I noticed a temp drop after. I think the motor is adding to the heat by a few degrees, killing some of the fully developed babies. Ideas?

What kind of ducks? Muscovies take 35 ish days

I'm sorry . Chin up!! I found this as I know nothing about cayugas.

Today is day 20 for my second batch of EE's. When I looked earlier I had small pip in one Olive Egg. I'll keep you posted! For some reason my temp dropped a bit on lockdown so I've been fighting with that.
Well, I lock down on Tuesday for my EE's. I checked last night and only tossed 1. I have 14 that are looking very good out of the 30 I started with. If they all hatch I'll be happy. They shipped all the way from Michigan to Florida so I would say that nearly 50% would be good
I'll keep you...

I took her out for a few reasons. I had to help her hatch as she was stuck in the egg. Once I got her out she was very very sticky so I had to rinse her warm water to clean her off. Also, I have a staggered hatch so I have 15 more EE's in there that are still in the turner (although...

Curious why you took her out of the incubator before she fluffed up? So sorry about your loss. That's the beauty of incubation, though, you can always try again.

She's here!! My little Orp hatched with a little help. She was a bit sticky and had membrane stuck on her. I'll get pics up in the morning when she's drier she will be lonely until the EEs start hatching in a week or so.

Your humidity looks really high.. what's it running? everyone coming out ok? no sticky chicks? you can slightly open a vent to let a little moisture out. When they hatch the humidity jumps up super high!!
