I do think they arrive starving. But they can go up to three days. But I am not sure I like that idea either. My first hatched silkies took a few days to learn to eat, my next batch of chicks took less time. I like hatching my own if I can do it. :) Great job on the hatch! Cute babies!

Unfortunately there is no controlling their laying completely. The added light just helps. They are going to slow down. Unless you have all production hens. Sorry. I gave up trying to control things when it comes to chickens. They just don't follow the rules very well. :D

You don't have to leave them in there to get used to it, but unfortunately it does mean that you will have to put them in every night. They either will get the idea or you will have the other coop finished first. Lol! But good for you and BF for getting it done fast! I hope your Wellie is doing...

Just so you know, since you are considering Favs, they don't integrate verry well with mixed flocks. Unless they are hatched together. If you broody hatch and let het raise them and introduce them into the flock that might work. They are pretty timid. Get picked on...
