Only snakes we have are garters, so I can rule that out. It just seems really strange that it's three males and no hens. Like I said, he's only a 1 1/2 years old. I noticed a few weeks ago he was spending a lot of time on the roost and seemed very inactive. I guess I should have done...

This morning I found my only Buckeye roo dead. This is the third one in 4 months and now I don't having any left. No hens have died, just roos. Any idea what could cause this? By that I mean is there any diseases or illnesses that only effect roos. He wasn't that old (1 1/2 years at the...

I have a number of egg eaters in my Buckeye flock. I know I have read about others having problems with their Buckeyes eating eggs also. Is this caused by diet? (Are they lacking something) Being bored? Other? Is there a good remedy other than culling the guilty?

I have Buckeyes again! Well......one roo. Buckeye Dave brought some cull birds over to my house this past weekened to butcher, and one of his young roos "accidentally" got away. I am letting him free range with some of my other birds. It's nice to see a Buckeye out running around again.

I have two 1 1/2 year roos(brothers) in with my hens. They have always been very gentle to each other and to me and my family. In the past week, one of them has came after my daughter and my wife, and they have been fighting each other regularly(the roos, not daughter/wife). They haven't came...

What a BIG surprise I got today when I collected Buckeye eggs. That is a typical CD it is sitting on. I got one last week that was almost that big. That is the biggest Buff egg I had on hand beside it, not too shabby either. My Buffs lay big eggs like that everyday. I need to get an egg...

I set 27 Buckeye eggs (plus 49 of other breeds) Wednesday night. It will be my first hatch of the year, yeah! It has been difficult waiting for the weather to warm so I can start hatching. Can't wait to have some new fluffy butts in 19 days.

Quote: This past weekend I spoke with the guy who I bought my first 8 chickens from. He sells 16 week old Production Reds. They get in batches of 4000 chicks and raises them up to 16 weeks, then sell. He said they have added two more 4000 chick batches this year due to the high demand. So...

Quote: This is a great way to increase protein levels. If you do not have access to pure soy meal, you can supplement with other things. I feed my Buckeyes yogurt, goat milk w/ oatmeal, red meat scaps, and worms as a supplemental protein source. I know someone who fed their Buckeye chicks...
