Hi everyone, things have been slow in the chicken world so I haven't been here in a while. Just waiting for these gals to finish maturing! I figure it'll be spring before I see any eggs.. In the meantime I'm just enjoying watching them grow. :)
Speaking of crosses.. I kinda have the same question. I can't for the life of me use the genetics calculator thing.. Any ideas what a BCM over partridge brahma cross would look like? Pattern-wise? I have some hatching this week but just curious.
Bama that's terrible! ;)
Must be a hatchery thing? I've had several, several cockerels from my own flock and all very docile. I'd let any kid go into the run with Big Boy.. Heck he won't even protect his girls from a dog!
I've noticed a huge difference since I switched to layer pellets instead of crumbles, mentioned by someone on this thread I believe.
Haven't been on it long enough to give an exact savings, but I notice I'm refilling feeders way less.
Cute pics from yesterday.. We moved the laying boxes from their original too-high location (originally planned a ladder but changed my mind) to lower level. Big Boy cracked me UP.. He got that big hiney in there juuust a talkin' to his ladies..
(Muffled voice) "Oooh LOOK girls!! See? You can...
Look at him, handsome! Biggest trouble I've had with some otherwise good-looking partridge boys is color bleed in the breast. Looks like you'll be good there. Blue is fast becoming my favorite color for the partridge boys. :)
I agree, my Brahma eggs are smaller than my sex link girl's egg. They have a larger one now and then, but for the most part just a normal "large" egg (which by my standards isn't that big lol)..
