Sarge, my MW tom has never gotten onto my car. Nigel, the Narragansett Tom just started to get up there. He does, however, sense he shouldn't be on the car, so when I went outside to take a picture of him, this is all I found.
I am now able to definitely say my Narragansett poult is Nigel, not Nancy. Not sure he knows he's a turkey, as he's got a major case of hero worship on Kevin the peacock. First it was to be able to perch on the top of the five foot garden fence like Kevin. Then it was balance walk along the...
Nigel, my only CdM poult, is fascinated with Kevin the Free Peacock. Wherever Kevin has gone - on top of the pergola, the deck cover or the roof of the house - Nigel has gone as well. Almost like Kevin is his big brother and he has a case of hero worship.

No gobbling yet, but he has...
My solo Narragansett is finally starting to look more like a gangly turkey than a cute little poult. Sudden growth spurt, I guess. Sometimes I think I'll name it Nigel, sometimes I think Nancy.
It is quite bonded with the CdM "tutors" and often hoots in distress when it realizes none of them...
Well, I think my single Narraganset poult is Nigel, not Nancy. Yesterday it displayed for the first time and with some neck posturing next to one of its brood buddy chicks. I never saw any of that with the BBB hens. Also, there is a bit of the fleshy lump stuff at the bottom of the...
I am ever so pleased Deb shared her egg baking chicken treat loaf idea and instructions some time ago, because that's what I do with my older eggs. I hard boil about 20 a week just for me (and Sparkle, ahe gets one every day) but bake several dozen in the oven every three weeks or ao.
With so...
The small, weakest poult died. It was not thriving at all, so I held it for a time, then tucked it under Punkin so it could pass all cozy and next to a heartbeat.
So there's just the one poult now, with five tutor chicks. Doing very well, though.
Nah, Deb, those photos were taken over a week ago, I was released before my friends departed. (Else I'd be typing with my nose, I guess....)
Here's a series of shots taken when Sarge was wooing me one day.

Now that most of the Hatch insanity is over (but there's still more OTHER kinds afoot) I thought I'd finally share photos of me modeling the Extra Secure Long Sleeved jacket SCG designed and created for me.

I'm pretty sure my hatch is done, with five "tutor" chicks and two poults. From past experience, I know those two poults may still experience death by misadventure before they mature.
But right now, they're cute little buggers, "whut whut-"ing from under the EcoGlow. If size is any...
I will mix up some sugar water for my wobbly poult. For the time being, because the weather is SO much cooler today, I put it back into the incubator with its sibling. I just don't think it was keeping warm enough under the EcoGlow, at least not as toasty as it can inside the 'bator.
The...
I am so sorry to read about the lost poults. I, too, would be devastated! When I took the first, all fluffed up poult out of the incubator, I shrink-wrapped a second poult. Not too badly, as I was able to carefully peel off the top half of the shell and membrane, then put it back so it could get...
I SO want call ducks. The first I hatched were at the house I rented before I bought this place and moved up here. I had chickens, a Cayuga pair and four calls. My landlady had a "thing" about ducks (although she loved and had geese) and she made me re-home the calls after a predator got the...
Fourth tutor chick is out. Come ON, Turkeys! This is THE first Hatch in which I have started to hover over the incubator. A couple of days ago, I lost the BBB hen I purchased as a potential partner for last year's CdM solo surviving poult. I suddenly discovered her with a horrendously prolapsed...
I still have three tutors out but no tutees yet. <*grumble*>. Looks like a pip starting on another tutor egg.
Come ON, turkeys! It's Cinco De Mayo, for goddess' sake!
