I get to stay home and play tomorrow, Ill get some pictures this weekend.
Im growing out some barred rock pullets that I hatched from Cyn's Rex eggs. Im certainly going to hatch barred rocks from them, but since my barred boy will likely mature slower than than girls, since he is younger, I...
Ive got about 2 dozen black rock hens and pullets. The youngsters have much better yellow legs, more yellow on their shanks, not just the bottom of their feet.
Well, Cyn, these are for you. Finally pictures of our Rex babies. This was the very first day they got to go outside their pen, so it was very difficult getting a picture with their head up; they were just having so much fun. Also in with them is a young blue rock pullet that Im keeping aside...
Working on getting better lacing on my blues, among other things. I am finding that the older they get, the lighter the lacing gets, so you have to start with super heavy lacing to end up with anything when mature. This one has the heaviest lacing at that age that I have so far. I dont know...
Oh, you're just a laugh a minute, arent ya! I have one or two that I think could be boys, but Im still not sure. Now Im getting worried if your boys asserted themselves so quickly. There is no way I could have 2 hatches from Cyn and get all girls, it just cant happen!
They are hard to tell. I have some just a little older than yours and I still can't tell for sure, tho it seems I may have a few. Only thing I see on the ones that I think might be boys are their legs are very light. The pullets have darker legs.
Thanks, Stan, I couldnt be happier with them, really!
Cyn, every time I go out to the barn, I have to go over and look at them. They are just so incredibly beautiful. I still wouldnt bet the farm on which are boys, but at least it looks like there probably are a few.
I need to post some updates for speckled hen from the chicks I hatched from her eggs. These are her babies by Rex and his girls. There's 2 batches here, about 2 weeks apart. Seems quite a difference in size as they are growing. Maybe some are just slower in growing than the others. It will...
Thanks, peeka. I only have a few with these deep yellow legs, and theres a few other things Im working on this year also, but its nice to see I can get these legs this color. Maybe next generation I can get even more.
