With the Delawares originating from the Barred Rock x New Hampshire I think that the NH colour shows up some and I believe those birds should be culled and not bred forward but I'm not totally sure........... Anyone else with info. on this????

I guess you are probably right but boy I...
The chicks I call colored came from a Delaware rooster over a Delaware colored hen that is a F2 the same as what you all are breeding. The F2 hen came from some F1s that I had gotten from Kathy.

When I mean colored they are not all yellow. They have a brown strip on the top of there head and a strip down each side of there back. Otherwise they are yellow as far as I can tell.
I will try to get some pictures. I look for the colored chicks to be white but I may be wrong. It will be interesting to see what the F2 Del NH with a Del sire turn out.
FYI I had chicks hatch today. The rooster was a Delaware and the hens were one F -2 Delaware colored hen and the other one was a New Hampshire both came from Kathy but my breedings. The F2 chicks came with some color they have dark brown spots on the top of head and sides of back. The Hamp...
You guys talking about weighing your chickens and trying to keep them calm reminded me of my childhood (just a couple of years ago LOL) with my Grandpa on his farm. He taught me if you want to keep a chicken in one spot day or night just tuck there head in between there wing and body and while...
The above picture is of my F-2 that I had bred from Kathy's F-1's. From what I know this is not to common to happen on the 2's. Kathy had one given to her that was a F-1 that was colored Delaware. I guess I will have to use a Delaware rooster on her since I do not have a F-3 Roos. She is laying...
Cackle Hatchery has this cross for sale as chicks. The chicks are yellow. Do not know what the chickens look like. I plan on doing this cross in Feb. see what I get.

The last time I put pictures on here it was a big project. I guess I assumed that this pullet was a F-2, maybe she is not. She looks just like all these other Delaware looking chickens on this thread. She came from some hens that I had gotten from Kathy that were the BR/NH cross.
I had something nice happen to me yesterday. Last January/Feburary I got really sick and had to get rid of most of my chicks and a lot of my chickens. Some of them chicks were F-2's that I had hatched from the F-1's that Kathy had given me. One guy had taken 50 chicks of various breeds...
