I'm not sure if I am right, but chickens peck at red (blood) if they see it, and if there is blu kote on their skin they won't bother with it then correct?
I would think you would get some reds like the hens and if you breed the white hen with that roo, I would think the chicks would turn out to be white with possibly black on them, but with EE's it's just a guessing game.
I remember now! I am pretty sure I saw Honey awhile back on this thread. Such a shame, her colors were beautiful! Nice looking group of birds you have there too!
Did you get other EE's along with her and if so, are they clean-faced? I know with EE's you never know if they will be or not, but a lot of other people on this thread posted pics of their EE's they got from Meyers and most were clean-faced. I got 5 EE's from Cackle Hatchery and they all had big...
I am so pleased with the EE's that Cackle gave me! They have such big puffy cheeks and pretty colors! I am still waiting for an egg from Blondie though, but hopefully it will be soon! I can't wait to hatch eggs from them and order more from Cackle hatchery in March![/IMG][/IMG]
That's strange for one of them to go broody. I only ever had two birds go broody and they were my bantam cochins. I never let them hatch any out because I already had this years chicks in the spring and I didn't need no more! They fluffed up their feathers and suacked at me man were they mad!
The run is looking like a fluffy cloud of feathers! It seems like all of my chickens are molting. I am only getting about 5 eggs a day from 27 hens/pullets now.
