8 week update on mine: Their mothers are EE's and father is a new hampshire red mix.
Opal - single comb
Annie - pea comb, not growing at all
Olive - single comb
Update on mine: Catching them is stressful, so if I say that the combs are pale, that is based off of how they look throughout the day. They are just over 6 weeks old.
Olive/Oliver
Single comb, mostly still pale, but wattles coming in
Annie
Pea comb, hasn't grown, single line. I see it...
5 week update: There's still no color in the comb, despite what the pics show. I can't see where it's grown at all. The patterning seems to have mellowed out a bit on the wings, I need to get a pic of that. I have two others with EE patterns, but they have single combs. At what age do those...
I have a light gray one like yours. I vote pullet based on it's pattern. Not sure on the other so it's best to wait for other answers. I had a black and brown one patterned like your dark gray one, and it ended up being male. Both of yours are beautiful though! I love the blue and gray colors on...
Like this? It's funny though that this hen's breast didn't start changing this color until about 8 weeks old. I will definitely have an Annie update next week. I looked at the comb this morning, and absolutely no color in it at all....
Update:
about 3 weeks
These are the current pictures... 4 weeks tomorrow. Again, the comb shows pink in the pics, but I think it's just from the stress of catching.
Oh lets keep hoping!! I know better than to start guess at 3 weeks, but I did some searching on this site for 3 week old EEs. Most males had pink/red combs by at least week 5. My batch is a second generation though (I guess that's what it's called) because the mothers are hatchery EE and father...
sharol, I will get a better one tomorrow. I only see one little ridge, but maybe more experience people can see more...
This is the red and blue (a lot prettier now) that everyone thought was a boy. She gives me hope!
Ok, last pics. I have a blue and red hen that everyone here thought was a boy, so I know there's a few more weeks left to guess.
These four were taken today.
These are the other two.
This one taken on day 17
mama2molly, she's beautiful!
Wishing4Wings, you got me thinking... I went back out and took pics of the wing. I'm waiting for them to upload. It does look splotchy, but what do I know lol. Actually of the EE patterned chicks look to be the same pattern. I hope you all don't mind if I post the...
The first pic was taken at about 17 days, and the other two were from yesterday at 20 days. I got a better look at the comb today, but of course didn't have a camera. It's just slightly protruding at the top, and didn't look pink. All of my comb pics look worse than they actually are, so I...
Thanks everyone for your thoughts, but what about the chick says roo? Just wondering so I can know what to watch. This isn't my first batch of chicks, and certainly not my first EE. It's always fun to watch them grow, but nerve racking when your favorite starts to look like a roo. That's how it...
Is it the comb or stance that says roo to you? The comb looks a lot more noticeable in the pic. I worried about that when posting it. I look at it every day lol, just hoping for a girl! I'm afraid I won't be able to rehome this chick if it is a boy. I'm already attached... I already have 1 roo...
I know it's way early to know the sex, but has anyone had one that looked like this? She is my favorite of the four chicks one of my EEs hatched. As far as I know, (I put the eggs under the hen) the broody is not the mother. The mother is an EE and the father a New Hampshire mix. Again, I now...
