How are you doing after the surgery? I don´t think any of us can concentrate very well when we´re in pain! I was just curious about the wing, as a lot of people wrap both for angel wing and for dropped. Hope you´re soon feeling a bit better.

That´s interesting, Ruru. so sebs you don´t need to wrap if they have dropped wings, then. Just angel wing. Is that because of their strange feather growth?

Hi ashandvine. Each one must do it his way. I cannot take the gozzies away from the parent birds, as the parents get so distraut. However, all my geese allow me to pick up the babies without much more than a hiss, so once they remember that I won´t hurt them or anything, I can just go and...

How old are they? sounds like you´ll have to move around really slowly and help them to ,earn to trust you. Grabbing them, picking them up, is what a predator would do, so as they´re not imprinted on you and not used to you too much, then you´re best off not grabbing them. You could hold...

They´re great birds, but it depends on the conditions you have where you are. They need lots of grazing, or you´ll be spending a lot of money on greens and feed. Grass is their staple, 80 - 90% is ideal. And if they´re for pets, get a couple of females. Much easier. My thoughts on it.....

Try a great idea from a bycer....paint various food colouring around their vents and see which coloured egg matches which coloured vent. It works.

Don´t be impatient, be careful...she´s doing great, what an attentive mom she is. How long has the second one been pipped? They can rest a long time after that stage. And once you open the eggs beyond a certain sized hole, the goslings cannot turn, so just keep an eye...but patience is so...

There´s me posting on the wrong thread! Try again..... If you should decide to take away the gozzie, try to do it without goose knowing, and keep gozzie from making a noise, just in case she gets upset and leaves her nest. I keep my finer on their bills, and tuck their heads into my clothes...

Gozzies are fine for a couple of days, don´t worry. And, if I were you, and the goose seems a bit unsettled, I´d leave her with the 2 eggs and take the already-hatched gozzie away so she´ll stay on her eggs. That way, all of the gozzies imprint on the mum, and it´s much less work for you. And...

What a sweet little fluff-ball. No wonder she can´t find her food! lol. I used to have some silkies in England, just normal white ones, nothing special. Funny little things.

Cold does us all in, eh? I remember so well in England having to do this for my aviary birds. Here, I worry mainly about mine in the winter when it rains...at night it can get quite cold (nothing anywhere near what you guys are getting, at times we get a frost!), but when it rains my chickens...

Is there any way your neighbour can go there, give them a good feed, give them water, fiddle about for 5 minutes or so, and then take their feed away, as they should have had it all by then...then they can be left to wash it down as they need for the nest half-hour before it freezes over again...
