Hi,
I’m wondering if it’s possible for a chicken to get fowl pox twice. I posted about my hen last year and today she appears to have another white bump on her beak area. I started giving her black pepper again but I’m wondering if it could be something else. Thank you!
Hi there! We have a 11-12 month old Olive Egger (Fern) who began losing feathers around her neck and head a few weeks ago and then her comb and face began looking dry and a bit crusty. The skin on the base of her neck where feathers are growing back looks yellowed, but this might be normal. It's...
On Wednesday, November 11, we discovered yellowish blisters on Bonnie's comb. She's a 7-month-old Brown Leghorn who just started laying about two weeks ago. I shared her pic with local chicken keepers who said that she has Fowl Pox. I isolated her immediately and began giving her electrolytes...
So truly I want to pick up where I left off with my last article.
When I wrote my last article I was riding a heady wave of combined luck and positive progress. Our birds were doing great, with no major incidents. We learned the daily needs, requirements and supplies for chicken and turkey...
My Silkie roo Nugget (9 months old)
Started acting out of sorts and lethargic with diarrhoea 7 weeks ago.
6 weeks ago (Sept 16) taken to vet who thought it might be fowl pox and prescribed pain killers and an antibiotic (for secondary infection).
around 4 weeks ago - his eyes had completely...
New chicken tender here. My chickens were all born around the beginning of June 2020. Up until the last 30 days my 20 chickens have had an impeccable bill of health. Recently 6 of the flock has been stricken with fowl pox. I immediately separated them.
About 2-3 weeks after separation I found...
I’ve read that fowl pox is uncommon on Long Island but I’m concerned about these black lesions. My blsck Australorp has some white puss in addition to black lesions on her face and comb which is consistent with fowl pox. My barred rock has quite a few black lesions on her comb As well, and my...
My sebrights have pox. My golden Lace sebright named Nugget has it really bad. I have been giving her eye drops, vet spray, and ointment. What else can I do. It is so bad! :hit
My 2 Wyandottes have small scbs all over their faces. The 2 other girls that live with them are fine. Is this just pecking or bugs? I did notice that one day there was a lot of nats in the yard. Any ideas? Here is pictures from Maple. I could not get her eye lid because she refused to close it...
Hello fellow chicken lovers!
My gorgeous faverolles hen has had several hard white lumps on one of her comb points for quite a long time now. They've gotten slightly larger since they appeared last year (she's 4) but not changed much. In the last few weeks, another has started forming at the...
I was moving my young showgirl rooster today (16 weeks) and discovered that he has a small pimple looking bump on his neck, that looks like it may be puss filled. I also believe I may have saw a single flea or lice crawl across his neck but couldn’t find it again/see any more. He also has a...
My 4 months old brahma have this brown thingy on her comb. Is it fowl pox? By the way, I live in a very warm country and there are so many mosquitoes here but my coop have a mosquito-proof net. And she is acting normal just like other hen.
Hey, I know I only post when something goes wrong lol, but my buff orpington, Angel, almost 2 years old, is normally a really healthy girl. I've never thought she might be sick or in pain, she's a very vibrant girl with an attitude. She lets me know when she doesn't like something, but that's...
I’m new to chickens and I have 4 roosters that live together. We had been pretty much conned by Tractor supply, so instead of hens we got roosters. I’m a little attached to these guys so I’m not too keen on parting with them unless it’s necessary.
My favorite rooster named Bruce, has black...
Hi all,
I have a flock of around 40 chicks. Half of them are 8 weeks old and the other half 5 weeks old. About 10 days ago, I noticed black scabs on on their beaks, eye lids and legs and learned that it is fowl pox. Immediately separated the affected birds and started giving them broad spectrum...
We have a small chick - about 1-1.5 months old - and we believe she has fowl pox, a bump on her beak and one by her eye and the bumps keep growing. All the information we've found says there isn't much you can do. The bumps keep getting bigger and bigger and everyone says there's nothing you can...
Do you think this is fowl pox? If so what would you recommend to help?? It's not as noticeable in the pics but there are black bumps on my rooster. In the second pic a white thing developed on his favorite hen. Her eye has only ever opened 1/2 way so that is normal for her.
Also, I have chicks...
My girls outside had fowl pox but they're just about recovered from it now (it was pretty mild no major issues). But I have chicks inside that will be ready to come outside in a couple more weeks. I'm having a hard time finding things on how contagious chickens are after their scabs are gone. I...
