    Ancona hatching

I'm on day 26 of incubation. And I'm going crazy! I see no movement and hear nothing. Is it normal for the eggs to not be moving at this point? I candled my eggs last at day 20 and everything looked good I think. Good sized air sacks and I think good size little ducklings in there. It was hard...

    Waiting for my Ancona babies

Hey all. I'm impatiently awaiting my Ancona ducklings to hatch. I've raised chickens in the past but am new to the duck adventure. Especially new to the egg hatching adventure. I'm so excited and so stressed at the same time! Anyone want to share their experience with me?

Question about nonslip surface in the incubator

Hi, this is my first incubation. I didn't realize I was supposed to put a nonslip surface in the incubator. I raised humidity yesterday for lockdown, day 20. Will they hurt their feet when they hatch? Bobwhite quail chicks. Also, would it hurt to open the incubator for a second to slip a...

    Egg position on Day 18?

I've been reading all the articles on incubating eggs. Today marks DAY 18! It said, "lay the eggs on their sides and position the lowest part of the air cell at the top of the egg." Can someone give me an example of what the "lowest part of air cell" is? I don't want to interpret it wrong. This...

Hi, So I am on day 14 of incubation currently so not long left now it's my first time incubating silkies so I am full of questions haha. I have Silkie's and and White Sussex in the incubator and I am confused as to when lockdown will be. I originally thought lockdown was day 18, however I...

    Hatching

I am so excited my eggs are hatching in 6 days :love:love but I also have 16 5 day old eggs in the same incubator. During lockdown can I still flip the other eggs? How would you do it??

    AHHHHH

I went to set my eggs for lockdown, carefully candeling each, one marking the air sack, adjusting the humidity on my incubator, and putting a grippy surface on the smooth plastic so they don't slip around once they hatch, and as I went to put the eggs back in I noticed one of them had pipped...

    Incubating late

So today is day 22 of my chicks incubating I have candeled as they are late (I know I shouldn’t) but the air sacs look really small and I’m not sure if I have done something wrong or some just come late any idea?

Hatching saddled air sacs - upright vs. on side

Q: Is it best to HATCH eggs with attached, though saddle shaped air sacs on their sides, or upright in egg cartons? Pros and cons of each? I am on day 18 of incubating 5 bantam eggs. All eggs are thriving well, though 5/5 eggs have fairly severely shaped, though normal sized saddle shaped air...

    when is lockdown?

I’m a bit confused with dates now. I read two different things. Some say day 1 is the day you put your eggs in the incubator and some say you should start counting dat 1 when they have been in for 24 hours. All resources say to lockdown at day 18. I put in my eggs on monday the 26th of...

    Lockdown and hatching?

hi! So my 3 eggs that seem to have been growing are at day 19 now, almost at the end of the day. I haven’t noticed any movement or shell cracking yet, and put them in lockdown yesterday, I have a few questions about what I should do to make sure I don’t do anything wrong at this point. I’m not...

    Boosting Humidity??

Hi there! Tomorrow is day 21! So excited. I live in an old farmhouse and run 2 woodstoves but with the current cold snap we’ve been running the kitchen wood stove as well. So dry air to say the least. House runs 14-18% humidity. I’ve kept the humidity up by putting water in the bottom well...

Day 19, no sign of anything...

So I have 6 eggs in the incubator, and I put them in lockdown yesterday but I fear I may have turned the humidity too high - 70-80 (In my defense there are a kazillion different opinions on humidity/temp for incubating and this is my second hatch - trying to find what works for me)... They were...

    Late day 17/Early 18

So I have 6 RIR eggs in a small table top, relatively cheap incubator (I have to turn and monitor humidity/temp myself - no biggie), but since I put them in after lunch to begin their incubation, today after lunch would have been the start of day 18 - Lockdown. So, this morning when I woke up...

    Wish me luck. Lockdown!

31 eggs (A few possibly quit a few days ago but no smell) Figured out plan B, C, D... for the chicks. Humidity up and sponges will be rewetted with a drinking straw and syringe. Hoping to not go crazy.

Hatched chicks and hatching eggs during lockdown

This question has probably been posted before, but... During lockdown, when some of my chicklets have hatched, they kick around the not-yet-hatched eggs. I don't want to open the incubator, obviously, but won't it cause problems for the eggs to be rolled around while they are trying to hatch?

Ideas for non-slip material for lockdown

HELP! Could y'all give me ideas for a non slip material to put down before lockdown? I just realized i counted wrong, and need to start lockdown now. But... it's Christmas. Not much open tonight. Will a towel work? Will that mess up the humidity? Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks.

Wiggling eggs: How long until they hatch?

It is day 14 for my coturnix quail eggs and they have begun to shake. My temperature is 100° and my humidity is 54%. My question is how long until the eggs start to pip? Is the humidity and temperature okay?
