~«Survival By War»~ (Warrior cat rp)

The battle seemed to freeze, all eyes were on Rainstar's display. All fighting had seemed to stop as they watched the Pineclan leader attack one of their own. Leopardmoon stood frozen too, she was in shock as the leader came down on poor Dovepaw. Move, Leopardmoon stop her, MOVE! Her mind yelled desperately while her long legs stayed locked up. She finally took a step forward then another before long she was bounding pass cats, tears streaming down her eyes knowing she'd get to Dovepaw's side too late as she watched Rainstar dig her fangs into Dovepaw's throat without hesitation. Leopardmoon skidded to a halt besides Dovepaw's collapsed body, putting her tail on her on the apprentice in sorrow. "How could you do this..." she whispered through gritted teeth "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS!" she lifted her head up to roar at Rainstar, her voice dripping with rage before she shook her head and turned her attention to Dovepaw. "Dovepaw... Dovepaw was a good cat, better than you by far... she had a good heart and... and she deserved to live long enough to become a warrior..." Leopardmoon rambled quietly before lifting her head high, staring Rainstar in the eye as she spoke loudly with hope the other Pineclan cats would take in what she says "Starclan has a new warrior joining them in an unjustifiable way... Dovepaw had served her clan well now and with my own power as Deputy, I now pronounce her warrior name so she can use it proudly in Starclan's hunting grounds! Dovepaw will be know as Doveheart for no cat could compare to her in kindness and in moral!"
Rainstar stared coldly at Leopardmoon, her eyes betraying no emotion. "She defended a Tribe cat. She betrayed me and her Clan. She had no right to live after breaking my trust." She swiped her tongue over her jaws, letting out a harsh, rasping laugh at Leopardmoon's words. "You aren't leader, Leopardmoon. You have no power to give a cat their warrior name."
Flamepaw shoved his way through the cats, the cave utterly silent now that they had stopped fighting. He burst out into the clearing around Rainstar, and suddenly froze. A gray pelt lay beside her and Leopardmoon, hardly recognizable now that it was coated in blood. His heart slammed against his chest violently, his ears flat against his skull. Dovepaw.
He pelted forward, a sob ripping from his throat. He skidded to a halt in front of Rainstar. "You killed her! You killed her, you monster!" He shrieked.
Rainstar shook her head slowly. "No I didn't, Flamepaw. She died at the paw of a Tribe tom. I was to late, I couldn't save her. I'm sorry."
Flamepaw stared at her, turning his grief stricken gaze to Leopardmoon, silently pleading that the deputy would tell the truth.

Leopardmoon swiped a paw over her eyes to try and rid her face of her tears as she looked sorrowfully at Flamepaw, she shook her head sadly as she knew she couldn't tell the grief-stricken tom that Rainstar had killed his sister... well at least not here. "Rainstar and I have gave her a warrior name so she may wear it proudly in Starclan... she died as Doveheart." She said firmly, knowing there was no way Rainstar could combat her words without causing herself more trouble.

"Doveheart." Flamepaw repeated, his voice eerily blank. He turned his gaze back to Rainstar for several moments, his expression both terrified and grief-stricken. I don't know if I can trust you.
"Doveheart." His legs gave out from under him and he fell to the cave floor, burying his face in his sister's blood stained pelt. "No name could be better for her." He rasped.
No cat noticed the faint outline of a starry she-cat watching them, her expression sullen. I'll never find my way to StarClan!

Leopardmoon stood besides Flamepaw, resting her tail on his shoulder to try and comfort the apprentice but knew nothing she did would really help him. She looked at Rainstar coldly "This battle is over Rainstar, everyone is tired, we need to leave now! We just can't fight anymore..."

(:hit I think the battle is done... I'll make a post about Dogpaw once they get to camp ;))

Sparrowflame, who was wrestling a brown tom, looked up as shrieks wove their way into her ears. But these were different. It was the voice of an apprentice, and a familiar one at that... She leapt off the tom, weaving around the fighting cats, who seemed to have paused in their attack to stare at the leader of Pineclan with horror. She crept up, cringing back at what she saw; Rainstar standing over the barely recognisable pelt of Dovepaw.

The cats parted suddenly, and Fire strode through them, her eyes narrowing as she saw the dead apprentice and Rainstar's blood-coated pelt. "Rainstar." She snarled coldly, her claws unsheathed. "This was a unjust and unfair battle. And because of it a innocent apprentice died. Retreat now, or we will show you no mercy."

~

Rainstar's tail lashed back and forth, and threw her head back, letting out a harsh laugh, like that of a screeching hawk's. Who did this kit playing leader think she was?
"This isn't over, Kitty." She spat, hackles flaring. "We'll be back, with more warriors. And you'll pay dearly for killing Hawkwing and Tigerstorm. I'll make sure of it." She jerked her head to the PineClan cats, and made for the tunnel.

Leopardmoon felt the guilt twisting around her stomach like a venomous adder again and she struggled to meet Fire's eye, she surely would blame her for her clan finding their camp as she was the only clan cat who had ever been there before this attack. Leopardmoon watched Pineclan run for the tunnels, trying to make distance between themselves and the waiting Tribe cats, a lot couldn't run though and were doing their best to leave the camp "Fire... Seer now as I take it, this battle was truly horrific and I want you to know not all cats stand by Rainstar, please have patience on the injured cats and those carrying fallen friends and family, we are retreating as fast as we can." She told the fiery she-cat once Rainstar was far out of ear-shot. She turned to Flamepaw and nudged him to his paws "Come on, we need to take her home." She told him softly before she gently picked up Doveheart's broken body in her jaws.

"Leopardmoon." Fire's voice was civil, holding no threat or hatred. "I know what Rainstar did to her, I saw her. Doveheart, as you now call her, died protecting one of my own. I owe her, and you, an apology for thinking that all of you are as bad as Rainstar." She sighed. "I'm sorry. I hope that the Tribe and the clans can someday live in peace, united." She watched silently as Flamepaw rose to his paws. "And, Leopardmoon...please tell him what truly happened to Doveheart. It may hurt him more, but it's better he knows the truth."

Leopardmoon dipped her head, showing the Tribe leader respect and understanding "Thank you Fire, your words are encouraging to hear, I'll also be sure to tell Flamepaw what truly took place here. May your ancestors guide you." She told the Healer she-cat in a tired meow, before she turned to join the retreating Pineclan cats.

(Welp time to make that Dogpaw post....)

Sparrowflame followed her leader, her tail brushing the ground. She had expected to leave this dirty mole-tunnel with a sense of victory, but instead Flamepaw would have to carry his dead sister back to camp. Her claws unsheathed, and she sunk them into the ground for a moment, then let go.
