~«Survival By War»~ (Warrior cat rp)

"I would keep your distance," Sagepaw slid up to the she-cat, amber eyes wide. "Ashstripe isn't really supposed to have visitors still, and Nettlepaw...she's a little...stressed right now." She glanced worriedly into the den, and then edged away to give the medicine cats space, walking alongside Ravenclaw. "I think she was under to much pressure trying to care for the clan all by herself, and Ashstripe."
“Yeah,” Ravenclaw muttered, watching Nettlepaw sliding into the nursery and Ashstripe sitting, just sitting, in the sun. “Yeah...” her voice faded off as she walked to the fresh-kill pile.

Gingersplash scowled slightly, glancing at the sky. "You have to have faith in our ancestors, Dustypaw." Her tone was that of a cat who had repeated the same thing many, many times. "They may be vague and distant, but they are there for us, and they will protect us. You just have to keep faith in them!"

~

"What do you mean!? Of course you did something!" Silverkit hissed, the moth utterly forgotten. "And don't worry, I won't tell anyone."
She stared up at him, almost expecting her chest to burst from the excitement that she would be a apprentice, and from the admiration she felt for the older cat. "I promise."

~

The scale still clutched delicately between her teeth, Brokenwing leapt onto the ledge, following Lostpaw carefully. As they entered camp together, Rabbitleap burst into giggles, watching them, a glint in her eye.
Brokenwing scowled, quickly slipping inside the warrior's den, carefully choosing a nest at the back, and laying the scale carefully inside, before slipping back out to join Lostpaw.

~

"Sorry! Sorry! Did I interrupt a dream? Sorry! I'm so stupid, I should have been smarter then to wake a sleeping medicine cat!" Ravenpaw paced furiously, tail whipping back and forth.
"Erm...well, I had a dream." She stated lamely, not ceasing her restless pacing. "I think it was the Dark Forest. Because...because there was another cat there...she mentioned Two-Face..."
She frowned, skirting to the side to avoid knocking over a pile of delicately stacked herbs. "But it wasn't a dream. Because...because I could scent things, and...clearly hear voices, and I felt the mist and..." She stopped abruptly, sitting down quickly and staring at Canopypaw.
"And the gray tabby wanted to recruit me, and Canopypaw what do I do!?"

~

Nettlepaw bent her head, sniffing each she-kit gently, before pulling away slowly. "They're healthy.." She murmured, watching as the smoky gray kit squealed softly in her sleep. She felt a pang at Grayfur's words. But she isn't really a mother. They aren't her kits.
"She is a wonderful mother," she agreed, her soft and calm façade never breaking. "The kits will grow to be healthy and strong warriors with parents like Hawkclaw and As—Willowstar."

Dustypaw sighed "Yeah, I guess you're right, it's just hard to have any faith in dead cats that haven't even made themselves known in so long, like with Ashstripe's weird sickness and everything... I don't know." He trailed off decidedly, he didn't like his latest trend of worrying about this sort of thing.

~

"Yeah well... sooner or later you would have to become an apprentice, I just helped it be sooner than later." Snakepaw insisted as he tried to combat Silverkit's excitement with his own uncaring attitude. "Also thanks, I don't want the other cats thinking too much about my involvement in your apprenticeship."

~

Rabbitleap's giggles caught Lostpaw's attention and he turned his golden stare to her, giving a blank expression as he studied the new warrior while he waited for Brokenwing to slip back out from the Warrior den. He quickly turned his attention back to the she-cat and flicked his tail towards the waterfall "Shall we go get that salmon?" He asked with a small smile on his usually stoic muzzled.

~

"It was just a normal nightmare, nothing 'medicine cat dream" about it..." Canopypaw replied nonchalantly before she sat up in interest, silently listening and thinking about Ravenpaw's words. "Well... it's hard to say, it sounds like you were there but it's ultimately your choice if you want to be recruited right? They wouldn't just pick up any cat unless they were sure they could get them on their side... We already have Wingpaw getting recruited but it wouldn't hurt if you joined him."

~

Grayfur nodded her agreement "They both will be mighty warriors for sure with their parentage, I wonder if they're destined for leadership because of it." She pondered for a moment "They'll be opening their eyes in a few sunrises, that's when they'll really become a pawful."

Willowstar had heard some mumbling about Ashstripe, she caught a few gossiping words as she headed towards the medicine den to check up on her but the leader pretended to not take note of it as she slipped into the quiet den. "Ashstripe... can I talk to you?" She called into the dim den quietly, tiredness heavy in her voice as she anxiously waited for the medicine cat's response.

"But Ashstripe's better. Sure, Nettlepaw's a medicine cat, and helped heal her, but StarClan is the only one that could heal a disease as bad as it sounded." Gingersplash meowed, glancing at Nettlepaw through the Nursery's entrance. She had a strange feeling about the apprentice, not that she was bad, but that she was hiding something... "Notice anything off about Nettlepaw lately?"

~

"Yes, can't have your ego ruined because of a silly kit, now can you?" Silverkit rolled her eyes, shaking her head, but the joy was still present in her eyes.

~

Brokenwing trotted up to him, nodding. "Sure thing," she murmured, allowing herself to return the smallest of smiles, which only encouraged Rabbitleap's gawking. Brokenwing scowled, flicking her tail. "Let's go."

~

Ravenpaw shook her head quickly, eyes widening. "Canopypaw, you know I'd do anything for you..." She shifted her paws, staring at them. "And I know this sounds like the words of a coward, and they are, but...I-I can't go back there. They're training kits! I can't watch that. I can't."

~

Nettlepaw nodded, watching the kits with adoration glittering in her eyes. "Well," she pulled herself together quickly, straightening herself. "They're healthy, so I will get going and leave you in peace." She dipped her head, and backed out of the den.

Nettlepaw trotted across the clearing, head low as she slipped into the medicine cat den. She paused for a moment when she saw Willowstar, but skirted quietly around the leader, crouching down by a pile of half-sorted herbs. I have to hear what she's going to say...

"Sorry, sorry!" Crowpaw whispered, scrambling out of the thicket with much less grace then she did. He shook his pelt, forcefully shaking a thorn lodged in his scruff to the ground. "Are you alright?"
"No, my tail is broken and my whole body is about to collapse all because of you." Hazelpaw let that jab sink in for a heartbeat before she snorted good-humoredly. She turned her head ever so slightly and suddenly the sun was lighting her drowsy eyes to brilliance. "Of course I'm fine!"

Still seated in the shadows just behind the den's entrance, Ashstripe lifted her head and welcomed Willowstar in with a thin, yet genuine smile. "Of course." Her mouth abruptly twisted into a pensive frown and she took steps to hesitantly peer outside. "Hopefully you didn't have an audience when you came in here, though."

"Hazelpaw! Don't do that." Crowpaw scowled at her, coming up beside her. The moor was drenched with dawn light, the heather whispering softly as a breeze drifted almost lazily over the open land. He glanced at her, sunlight reflecting off of her pale green eyes until they were almost glowing. Much against his will, a small smile played across his muzzle, before he quickly snapped his gaze away from her's, his stoic façade returning as if it had never left. "Sorry I woke you. It's your fault though, you shouldn't just sprawl out in your nest like that."

"No sweat, dude. Honestly, It'd be a shame if I'd slept through the rest of this sunrise." She stuck out her tongue in response to the snarky defense he'd snuck in there, but didn't have anything else to say. Instead, she kept her eyes trained to the sun as it inexorably climbed from its resting place in depths unseen and sent off ripples of pastel color to illuminate the drab pre-dawn.

Crowpaw sank slowly onto his belly, resting his head on his paws. Occasionally his gaze flickered upward to Hazelpaw, his tail flicking lazily across the corse grass. "It would be a shame," he mumbled softly after moments of silence. He then rolled onto his back, head tilted to look at her, the pale blue and purple sky fading into solid blue behind her. He raised a paw, batting at her shoulder gently. "Want to hunt?" He murmured, blinking as the fresh sunlight almost blinded him.
"Or do you have plans to watch the sun all day?"

Only feeling a slight shred of remorse for leaving the sun to rise to its full glory unseen, Hazelpaw nodded happily. "Yeah, sure." Tail high, she turned a speculating circle to glance over their options for hunt terrain. She turned back suddenly and went to loom over him, grinning. "Wanna change it up a bit and work as a team?"
